My baby is coming back home!!

Well, after several years, I'm picking up the exact same year and colour Mazda RX8 as my previous one. Pick up will be in six days. I can hardly wait. I've seen pictures and the car history looks really good. In fact, she is a spitting image of my last car.

My big concern:
I wanted to know, does the 8 year / 100,000 mile warranty transfer from owner to owner. Is there special paperwork or phone calls that need to occur to ensure engine coverage?

The car has 80,000km, and I will perform the following inspections and asking questions:
1) significant drop in fuel economy.
2) strange rattling noises after long drive in the upper rpm
3) loss of power after a long drive, plus rough sounding idle
4) takes longer to start the car (verify that battery/starter are good), and car just takes awhile to catch on ignition

Should I ask the owner to do a compression test?

I suppose... if the warranty is transferrable, I should not be as concerned.
I am sure looking forward to getting back into my beloved car.

Nothing else I have driven since, has put a smile on my face.

Do you remember the recession of 2007? well I worked for a Casino company in Las Vegas. Do you remember Las Vegas in the recession?

2009 I got laid off. That didn't sit well with my expensive rotary gal. And Employment Insurance in BC is a joke. (20% of my regular income!)

So I went back and studied to be a "Network and Database Administrator", because:
  1. There's always a need for these guys
  2. It's better pay
  3. There is a lot of work out there

I got hired in a Datacenter at entry level... and... I really like the work actually. I'm very happy with how things turned out.
Well, now that I can afford her, I'm going to get my baby back. Honestly, I miss her so much!
Well, if anyone is in the area in the next few weeks, I'd like to meet up! .... least 2 weeks from today (I need some time to put my toys back into the car) (Make the car feel like "home" again).

Never thought about that.... Maybe I suffer from attention deficit? to me it just seemed more interesting at higher speeds. I guess I find the regular playback speed boring?

Thanks for bringing that up... perhaps subconsciously I like driving fast?

It's just, my preference I guess...

So far, my sweetheart has received the following restorations:
  • Sound deadening foam in all the doors
  • Axle Flow short shifter
  • New Rims and tires (9 inch rims)
  • Replaced faulty rear shock
  • Rear rims rolled and plastic cut / coated for maximum wheel well space
  • Cabin filter replaced and 1.5 liters of junk removed from ventilation system
  • Installed iPod adapter and BlueTooth adapter with Mic
  • Installed iPhone bracket for using iPhone as a car cam
  • 2 days of polishing and refinishing to a glass finish
  • Custom blue foam gaskets inside rear taillights to fix condensation
  • Killed 6 interior cabin rattles
  • Greased all contacts of the central shifter panel (It used to creek and groan and that was annoying)

Next:
  • High Performance ACT Clutch
  • Large Diameter Racing Beat Sway Bars
  • Street Pro wheel alignment

I have'nt been on the forum for awhile. Where did you get the tailight gaskets?
I wish I would have known you needed a strut, I have 4 new struts and springs in my garage.

I think when he said "custom" he meant his own. I just used 3/8" black foam weather stripping and it's been holding up great.

I could really use a Catalytic Converter right now. Mine is toast. In fact, I won't be driving my car until I get one. It's deteriorating quickly.

Exactly what I use, and also the blue gasket instant goo. Simply work with the water channel of the trunk, and extend the track down past the rear tail light to force the water out.
If you try to seal up your rear tail light, what happens is that water builds up due to blockage and spills over into the light socket holes.

Seems that the best thing to do is work with the water flow and help it get out quickly.
PS: It's a good idea to seal up the shaft infront of the key hole, as pressure washing will get water in there quickly.
