26 Mazda's in the entire nation affected...

RX-8's from 2004.

QUOTE:
"Also affected under the same recall were the RX-8 and Mazda 6 at Mazda Motor Corp. However, the recall in Canada involves just 26 of those vehicles, all from the 2004 model year."

I'll probably be one of them. I've got a "first batch" car and seemed to get caught up in everything from that era.

Which reminds me, I never did take the car in for the oil cooler lines...

Just to give you all an idea about how dangerous this recall is..............Out of 1.7 Million Toyota's affected, 3 cars In Japan and 2 Cars in the USA had this issue. That is .00000294%, I bet NASA would launch would that percentage of failure lol.
If you include the other companies affected I bet the percentage would drop lower lol. What I dont understand is how Ford could have rear beam axles rust and fallout of 100's of pre 2003 Windstars but no recall?? Gotta love the NHTSB lol

Yes, but those two cars will experience over pressure of the air bag and produce metal shards.

I experienced the corrosion problems of the oil cooler lines (leaking), yet no recall down here.

You should get it done. You could lose an engine because of it.

I know. I'll have to look into it once the car comes out of storage. Last time I had the front end of the car apart they looked fine, but not sure how much my opinion on that is worth.

I see no activity or answer to this question, but I just got a notice from Mazda saying that certain 2004-2008 RX8's have the inferior air bag.

The PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, yet.

I read a used Honda owner in Houston just got the inflator neck treatment and died.

Just call Mazda Canada or Mazda North America Operations and provide them with your VIN#. They'll tell you if your car is flagged for the recall or not. Also they will let you know if its been done. I already checked and apparently my air bag had already been replaced years ago. They will also update your information due to them only having the original owners info, this way if there is a recall, they can contact you.

I have a 07, been recall for front driver airbag. If they replace it, will they damage my car in anyway? How do they put the airbag back into the steering wheel? Does anyone know if Mazda will provide a rental car? Thanks.

Yeah, they have to cut up the steering wheel to get it out, it will never sit straight again. Get in there quick with a rag to wipe up all the glue residue since it's just superglued in over the old one. They may provide a rental but it usually just takes a week or two, I'm sure you can walk?

No it doesnt damage your car, the airbag is a direct replacement for the takata, and it's a half hour job so no you wont get a rental. I just had mine done and barely had time to finish my coffee before the tech kicked it back out.

Had driver side done in 20 minutes. It is just the igniter, not the bag. The passenger side is now a recall?
