Mazda Canada Meet!! Toronto Motorsports Park!! Free lunch + cash!!
Hello rx8club!
As some of you know, Mazda Canada took a big step forward this year and began supporting the Mazda grassroot racing community! Starting with SRTA, Mazda Canada is giving cash payouts for competitive Mazda racers. For those of you who are unaware, more info is here:
Mazda Canada Grows Grassroots Contingency Programs for Canadian Motorsports in 2013 - Feb 9, 2013
SRTA Canada | 2013 Mazda Contingency Awards Program – Sigma Racing Time Attack Series
Additionally, Mazda Canada and SRTA wish to organize a big Mazda meet on the track:
SRTA #3
Sunda, July 28
TMP
9am ~ 5pm
This will be a Mazda meet, not an RX-7/8 exclusive meet. Mazda Canada and SRTA are working together to come up with some programs with prizes and will announce them as we go. However, we already have commitment from Mazda Canada for the following:
1. Mazda Contingency Awards will DOUBLE that day.
2. Free lunch for everyone, provided by Mazda Canada.
Mazda Canada, out of all other OEMs, is the only one who's showing support for the grassroot motorsports community. As proud Mazda owners ourselves, let's show our support back, and let Mazda Canada know that we appreciate what they've done for us!
ZOOM ZOOM!!
Of course, you can track your car and compete, or you can simply bring your beloved Mazda for the meet. Track or meet, let's get together and have a good time!
Let's start a list here:

It's going to be tough and fun! Lot's of fast Group B guys will be there, mostly Mazdas too. It's gonna be an awesome day.

hypothetically, if an amateur running bone stock were to want to get a little wheel time in would this be a good opportunity? Or should we be leaving this to the semi-pros and hit up an event like the touge day at Cayuga?

This would be a good event to go to - Sigma always puts on a good day. Everything is very well organized and everyone driving seems to respect each other a bit more during these events vs some of the other days I've been to.

We try our best to take good care of our racers, especially the new comers.
We always have a thorough driver's meet, explaining the rules and courtesy in detail. The regulars would find it repetitive but it's important to brief the new comers. The racers at SRTA are generally very, very nice people, and would be more than happy to take you out for ride-alongs.
We would then slowly ramp you up to the Official Time Attack at the end of the day. We will make things very easy for you.

Oh nice James; you're considering signing up eh? Any mods to your 8 for this year?
I have a confession - peer pressure got to me! I am taking my 8 in for "performance" alignment this Friday and will follow-up with iGarage thereafter for a fluid flush and to have a look at my brakes and suspension. If all is well... I will be signing up for the time attack
