Maybe I will get more help in the Canadian forum...

Can someone tell me if I should go with 205 50 17 or 215 50 17 snow tires? I heard 205 would be better as that will cut through the snow better. Thoughts?

As well, what would be the proper 17" rim for our cars? Would 17x7 fit? What's our offset?

Thank you in advance.

The dealer recommended 215-55-17 tires...although smaller does allow you to plow through snow better.

I have read that others in the forum use Hanook Ice bears and they are 225 for 17".

Do a search, there are lots of threads on winter tires.

Ditto on the 'do a search' - search for "winter tires" here and in the Tires and Wheels sections, and you'll get all the info you could want!

Comments: 205 width would be nice (narrower is better), but both 205/50-17 and 215/50-17 are shorter diameter than stock - along with narrower, you'll be giving up .5" - 1" of ground clearance! The best size seems to be 215/55-17, and there are lots of good winter tires available in that size. Second choice would be 225/50-17.

Stock offset is 50mm; 7" width is fine for 205 or 215 tire width. Again, check through some of our threads here to see what wheels people are using for winter tires.
