Leaving Kelowna and heading to Vancouver I stopped in Merrit to gas up, there was a beautiful silver 8 parked, the owner stood by having a coffee so we had an opportunity to chat.
We got on the subject of tires, as I am kind of shopping at this time, the tires on his 8 looked great and he told me he had put these tires on his car four months ago. He said he was out of work at the time and could not afford a lot of money for new tires.
The tires were General Exclaim UHP ( 225x45-18 ) he had around 9k. ( kilometers ) on them and he told me they performed great, excellent traction on wet and dry pavement, he had checked out Tire-Rack's website for owners reviews and they came quite highly rated.
I stopped in at the local tire shop and asked for a quote, 4 tires 225x45x18 mounted, balanced and taxes in, $ 926.80. Sure I know they are not the Michelin's I had looked at but the difference in price was $ 493.00 and that's not chicken feed.
Any 8 owners out there that have these General's on their cars ??
