out of curiousity i called state farm today to see how much my insurance premiums would be on an 04 rx8 on my own primary driver. clean record everything no accidents or records. driving school certificates and everything. i got a quote of over 1100$ A MONTH!

thats insanity.

im sure its different if i register under the same insurance company as my parents but still thats disguisting..

1100 a MONTH? On an 04?!!

How old are you? Which province?

Something went wrong with the quote.. you'll pay more in insurance in a year than you would for the car :\

It won't be any different unless you lie and say you are a secondary driver which is a no no

Insurance is a way cheaper in the us. Less government interference.

well that's why most kids our age don't have cars, the insurance itself in a year or two would cost almost as much as a car. The expenses of owning a car are ridiculous in Ontario, JUST because of insurance. The 8 makes it worse since it a gas guzzler AND has costly maintenance. Still 1100 is WAY too high; isn't state farm pretty expensive though? have you tried belair? or TD? try getting an online quote somewhere.

edit: sorry, when i say most kids our age don't have a car, i mean most kids our age aren't capable of getting a car and covering the costs of keeping it on the road by themselves. There are obviously tons of parents who'd spoil their kids with BMWs and Audis when they (the kids) haven't even worked a single job in their entire life.

avoid State farm. I have been a loyal customer of theirs ever since I got my first car, and up till resently I have had my rx8 and my pick-up with them. then a few weeks ago, because of a late payment, they increased my rate, for the car only, over $4000 a year to $7000. I am now with TD insurance and my rates are back down to a reasonable price
