I just don't understand the anti-American sentiment going around sometimes. Yesterday on the news, I heard some Canadians say that they're not donating to relief efforts because the Americans don't deserve our sympathy, especially given all of the money spent on the war in Iraq.

While true at the political level, people forget that PEOPLE are suffering down there. Many of the stranded refugees were likely living below the poverty line at the time of the hurricane. I'm sure their lives pre-Katrina did not revolve around discussing political issues around the dinnertable, but mere day to day survival. This has just made it hellishly worse.

The gangsters roaming the streets creating chaos and anarchy deserve to be shot by the National Guard, but the true refugees need our help.

It truly breaks my heart to read about all of the displaced people, the families that have been broken up, parents trying to find milk for their babies in arms, the children and women being raped by roving gangs, etc. B!tch slap Bush another day, but in the interim, please help out by donating to the Red Cross.

I've made a donation equivalent to the one I made for Tsunami relief earlier this year.

heres mine,
since they are the richest country in the world..they can fund themselves .. i sympathize with the PEOPLE only!.. but its not the money that the americans need its physical HELP. they got idiots running an otherwise great country, that basically cant do anything right (the idiots).

now donating to the tsunami fund was different since it devasted some of the poorest countries that can barely support their regular day to day infrastructure...i dont even think 95% of the tsunami victims had any sort of insurance?!

but the US.. comon give me a break, if they wanted to they can fund rescue operations all over the state to save anyone, whether its refugees or upper-class citizens..

if you really want to donate money, just visit basically all of africa and parts of asia and south america and you will know exactly what im talking about, then come here asking for donations, for i surely will donate!
