Guys do the R Flash!
My 8 was Flashed. I feel lots of diff. Such as
1) pick up faster than b4, more solid b/w 3000rpm-6000rpm
2) Gas milleage improved a bit
3) feels like orginal JDM 210 hp
S tech was installed too, I don't like my friend's supsension springs which names spirit. It was a great appearance but u can't put any body kit in the front. Thats sucks!
I hope the real 210 flash is the R flash. Correct me if I am wrong but u might never know if this is the real 210?

Just curious as to what you fellows had prior to the R that you feel so much difference? Oh and R888, you've driven the JDM 8? Must be weird to do RHD!

It felt great for me for a few weeks with much more responsiveness, better gas mileage and quicker( i think), but now it seems to have fallen back in to feeling like it was before I got the "R flash" . Still have to test it more thoroughly to be sure. Anyone else get that hi feeling with the R flash and the low feeling when it seems to feel normal again?

the car will adjust its fuel and timing curves to match your driving style. So what you may be feeling is the car settling into your driving style.

It could very well be psychological! After not driving my car for 4 weeks, when i got back into it i releised how fast it was and how short the shifting was.

When my gas guage is at 1/4 full, the trip odometer shows 300km - it never did that before. I would get 390 km tops to a tank of gas with combined city/highway driving.

I had the heat shield recall done and the interior seems cooler too because the console is not so hot. Great for someone that had a/c problems.

Ya, I'm with you on that. I didn't really comment on the acceleration back when I got the R flash because of that "new" feeling you get with a new flash. That being said, my mpg is still better than it was with the N flash and the flat spot up around 6500-7000 rpm is not as pronounced as it was with the other flashes. All in all, a good flash to get.

Sorry, I just noticed I can't type worth sh@t. I was saying you can reset things: here's how:
Reset your PCM NVRAM by:
1) Turn the key to OFF
2) Press and hold the odometer reset button
3) Turn the key to on (NOT START)
4) Hold the odometer button until the odometer reads "TEST"
5) Release the odometer button
6) Turn the key to OFF
7) Repeat steps 1-6 (one more time)
This will reset the PCM NVRAM, but not the KAM (Keep Alive Memory). The NVRAM stores fuel trim values. The KAM stores sensor profiles (such as the eccentric shaft profile).
Disconnecting the battery won't do it ... NVRAM means it won't be cleared by loss of power.

Damn, I tried to get the R flash at Sunridge, but they gave me hassle, saying that I had to have some legitimate reason before getting the flash. (Of which I did't really have a reason!) Are they going to reflash this automatically when the heat recall rolls around?

KHTM, if you are out there, please advise how it went.

If you start making jokes about his camping trips with his "special" friends...he'll show up in no time. :D

I think KHTM may still be celebrating his b-day with his "special" friends (that was over 2 weeks ago!).
Anyways, I've done the above reset once. This was back in the L Flash days (didn't have many km in at the time) when I was doing the break in. I did feel a difference (immediate) but I think that could have been because I was driving like a grandpa.
Lately I've done the brake tap (ie stomp the brake 20+ times in 10 seconds) reset with the N Flash and notice very minor differences. I believe the brake tap clears both NVRAM and KAM.

Nope.....I'll see if I can find the background behind that. I'll have to go ask the little green guy.
edit:
Just the KRAM
clearing the KAM (Keep Alive Memory) on the PCM
Typically this would be done following maintenence on, for instance, the eccentric shaft. Not the type of thing you run around doing all the time.
Anyway, the procedure is:
1) Turn the ignition to ON (not START)
2) Depress the brake pedal 20 times in rapid succession
The oil pressure needle will sweep to mid gauge and back again indicating the procedure was completed successfully.
You must be quick, and you do not have to press the brake pedal hard ... just good taps.
