GT's are scarse :(

Dealer, just told me, if I want a GT it will probably be auto. If I want 6spd GT ha, good luck.

He said, he has people calling him from vancouver, winnipeg etc. Because they can't be found.

They have 2 right now, both GS 6spd. So I might just go GS if I have no choice. Maybe I'll head to bank street, tomorrow and look at the GS they have.

Having just seen one, if I did not have a GT on order, I would buy one. The cloth was nice inside.

You should probably move quickly before the GS's all sell as well. Once they are on dealer lots they will probably not stay long.

How badly do you want a GT? I started a thread a week ago about RX-8s available in Manitoba - there was a silver GT and a Black GT available, I know the Black GT is sitting on the dealer's lot and unsold as of yesterday (Brandon, MB). Flights from Ottawa to Wpg are cheap, the drive home would let it break in nicely!

Gordon

Not much difference from the GT and GS.

Leather is pretty much the only difference

They both pretty much have the same specs. I had a choice between the GT and GS. I pick the GS.

Call me crazy, but I don't perfer leather. I don't like the moonroof on the car anyway.

I think you'll still enjoy the GS just as much as the GT. Both beatiful cars.

Goodluck

Hmmm..

Stuff the GT has that isn't on the GS:

Xenon HID auto-levelling headlights
Dynamic Stability Control with traction control system
auto-dimming rear view mirror with Homelink
power adjustable drivers seat with lumbar support
seat heaters
anti-theft alarm system
oh yeah, and leather!

I think the first two items are very worthwhile, especially if one is planning on winter usage. The seat heaters come in really handy then, also!

Regards,
Gordon

I think there is one major item you forgot and that is the difference in the engine. The GS has 210hp and the GT has 250hp.
This must of been a slight oversight!!

Xenon HID auto-levelling headlights - got it in my GS
Dynamic Stability Control with traction control system - do you mean the sway bar ?

auto-dimming rear view mirror with Homelink - don't got it
power adjustable drivers seat with lumbar support - don't need it
seat heaters - don't need it with cloth
anti-theft alarm system - got it in my GS
oh yeah, and leather! - don't want it

The GT is slightly better ....Don't get me wrong ....

But if you talk with the dealer ... they'll throw a few things in

Apparently finding one without a sunroof will be even harder.

Oh I wanted a GT with roof.

But ok I just stopped by and sat in a red GS.

WOW, I don't really care if its GS or GT now. I like the cloth, very nice, but I found the back of the seats cheap. There is no hardness in the back to protect the cloth from being punctured! There is no foam nothing.

Very comfy seats, the back was fine, large enough and the seat was very far reclined.

I got to start it Love the sound and there is no problem hearing it.

After seeing the red, I don't think I care what I get, any color any car will be fine with me!

P.S. I just drove back from Winnipeg in May, LONG drive. Took me 24 hrs, I didn't stop! My brother lives in Winnipeg, I could get him to buy it for me?

I have 2 GT 6spds left that aren't spoken for in Saskatchewan. One silver and one red. Anyone interested?

Mazda8 - is the red without sunroof? Is it in stock? PM me if you'd like.

Edit: sorry Mazda8, I just read your title and got my answer. It's looking more and more like I'll have to order the car for an April p/u

Wing - That is *exactly* what I thought of the fabric when I sat in the back and is/was my biggest concern of getting the GS (BTW the GT seats have a hard plastic backing). I was also regretting the fact of no HID and seat heaters (amongst other features for only 3K). Because of these concerns, it's the reason why I didn't move on my agreement with Bank Street (besides the fact that I felt a deal is a deal). Before potentially writing off the red leather trimming, I'd like to be 100% certain of my ideal spec before forking over that kind of coin.

I wish that I could see a titanium and blue side by side so I could make a proper decision but that won't happen unless I wait until next year. So if one becomes available before the end of August, I'm interested in the the titanium (1) or blue (2nd choice). If it's later then that, I might as well wait the winter out and get it in March for a lower price and maybe they will have fixed the little buggaboo's that are creeping up (A/C intermitent puff's of warm air, low hp at the wheel (see dyno thread).

To my knowledge, you cannot get HID's on the GS model... will someone please confirm this?

The HID's are not available on the GS.

Pete: Did you have the dealer order a HID kit and if so, how much did it cost and what did they charge you for the installation?

It is not a factory option but I'm sure the dealer could pull it off for major coin. I would suspect the initial poster was thinking "washers"??????

It was my understanding the GS came with an alarm but the GT came with a better one. The car at the dealer had an alarm, but the brochure says it doesn't, odd.

You guys seem to have the same feeling as me. All the dealers will tell you if you don't buy NOW NOW NOW, you aren't going to get one. Hawkesbury was helpfull but he really seems to be throwing out the bull to get me to buy now.

Saying, 700 each year, only releasing in Sept every year. So next shipment will be Sept 04 for the 05 model. They want to keep this car "Exclusive" to keep the value up.

Ummmm, didn't mazda state they wanted to sell 30,000 cars a year? The Acura TSX they stated only 15,000 a year. This car doesn't seem to exclusive to me. But if Mazda keeps up it's excellent marketing and sales (read scarcastically) they should be very good at keeping it exclusive!

Wing, consider that Canada is a small market for Mazda compared with Europe and that Europe still waiting for their RX8´s I think 700 is OK.

I'm supposed to be picking up a red GT (w/o sunroof) in Nanaimo. I'm waiting for the test drive before deciding to take it or not.

The 36-month residual on a Mazda lease shows 54% for low mileage. Doesn't sound like "exclusive" to me with that kind of depreciation. That's a $25,000 loss (including all taxes and fees) after 3 years.

I am in the leasing business. It wasn't that long ago that a 50% residual for 2 years was condidered high! 54% for 36 months is very reasonable. The rule of thumb used to be that the avearge vehicle depreciates 30% the first year and 20% per year after that.

I asked the dealership that i was at to do the same thing. They said they wouldn't be able to install it and to look to the aftermarket.
