Freshly Lowered!
Hey guys,
Freshly lowered my 8 as the title suggests. Did it fairly easily in the front, pain in the *** for the rear. The rears dropped a lot. The tire almost rests inside the wheel well. This thing is now handling like a dream, I feel like I'm on rails. The front didn't drop much but it is definately a lot stiffer. Went with 1.4 inch drop from bright yellow Number One springs. Here's a pick of the rear after the drop, hard to see the difference without seeing the rest of the car but it is definately a lot lower in the back.
On the flip side, is there anyone around Toronto that is looking for stock 8 springs? I have all 4 (obviously). There in good shape having only 30,000km on them. I'm not actively looking to sell them but if I did I would let them go for about half of what I paid for the lowering springs, in the $60 canadian range. Let me know if anyone is interested.
How did all of your drop jobs go? Did anybody else do them theirselves? I ended up all black and blue and bruised from doing mine. This car is too damn small to be worked on by someone 6 foot 4 and 200 pounds...

I can't find any info on these springs! The advertised drop on the box is 1.4 front and 1.4 rear. The company name is Number One. Let me know if anyone knows anything about these things. I didn't drop mine as low as Dozer's. Dozer what springs you runnin? Tein?

Two things:
Why did you buy them if you never heard of them, 120 is cheap for USED springs, 120 for NEW springs raises and eyebrow
I have never heard of those springs
Hopefully your not going to throw a kit on, or if you do, I hope you have brand new paved roads in your area.

Alright, well that settles it. First install meet two mods pending require a compressor.
Agent008 needs rotors put on, and I need my springs put on. We're renting a compressor.

They are new springs but they were purchased a while ago. Mostly new roads where I am, I'm in the suburbs, Whitby. I actually only paid $100 US for them, got a great deal. Someone bought an RX8 that came with them new in the box but never installed. I've already thrown them on and I love them so far. Just wanted to get more info on the specs...all the writing on the box is in Japanese except for one label that says RX8 and 1.4 inch drop front/rear...
I did the install in my garage. I have an air pig and air tools. I used a coil spring tool to remove the springs. It attaches to the outside of the spring and you turn one end with a wrench or air tool and it threads a long screw through the other side tighetening the hooks together. The coil spring removal kit I bought was $20 bucks at Princess Auto and comes with 2 units.

If anyone in Canada is looking at the Racing Beat springs, (about $300 Canadian) I have a set of these for sale already installed on stock shocks, for $350, + busfare.
No compressor tool needed, just unbolt your shock and bolt on the RB - excellent if you want to track the car, but don't want the drop and stiffer ride all the time.

installed new swift springs and tokico Dspecs after work today. well...i did the front only. Ill be doing the rear tomorrow, then ill be taking pics (well, after i put the summer wheels back on i guess). Im really happy with the drop. i have a GS, and footman and thumper both know how hideously high it rides. the swift springs advertise a 1" drop front and rear. I measured 28" from ground to fender (above the center of the wheel) before. After it was 26 1/2" . I suspect it will settle even more after they've been on for a while. im very very happy with the drop in the front though. cant wait to install the rears tomorrow. the fronts were so easy i couldnt beleive it. 10 mins and the struts were on the floor ready to be taken apart. hope the rear goes that smoothly (and alignment the day after).
