Compression test on my '05 - original owner
8 years and 80k in, I decided to test my 8 as the warranty expires next week. Got it done at Achilles Mazda in Milton for $148 plus tax.
Results are 7.0,7.4,8.1 at 240rpm for R1 and 7.9,8.0,7.7 at 261rpm for R2. Normalized to 250rpm and 640 feet it's 7.53, 7.96, 8.71 and 7.99, 8.09, 7.79 respectively.
It's a pass, they said it's great, but is it?
I do 5w20 mineral oil every 5k, first change at 1k, no premix, top up usually 3 times between changes, WOT atleast once a day, some track time, plugs and coils at 60k, air filter every 30k, 1 new battery, and that's it. It flooded once, but other than that it's the most reliable car I ever owned. My 2009 Ram is solid, but my 2011 1-series softop lives at the shop, and the 2012 Mazda 3 I bought my son has already been to the shop twice unscheduled.

Thanks for the feedback guys, hopefully it won't go all to **** now that the warranty will be over.
Still, having driven nearly everything else on the market - it's still as fun as anything, hopefully it'll last untill something better comes along.
