I'm looking for a catalytic converter for my Rx8 the check engine light is masked right now with the accessport but before I trade it in I need to uninstall the accessport which will then display the check engine light. Is there another way around this without having to buy a CAT? Is there a cheap cat I can get that won't display the CEL?

 

You can try a Davesport cat welded into a mid pipe

 

if you gutted your old cat or just dont have it anymore you have a couple of options

1. scour the junk yards
2. post in the want to buy section
3. check on craigslist.

 

Stab the CEL with a screwdriver....


But seriously, your going to need to find another good cat to replace it with.

 

I already signed off on the trade they test drove the rx8 and they liked it. Can they revert the signed agreement? I pick up the other car next week.

if you sold them a car with missing emissions equipment and a device (the AP) in place to hide that fact then you're kinda fucked.

 

I found a local guy that sells cats for the rx8 he says it passes emissions and he sell to mazda dealerships. Brand new cost 250.

 

damn.. that's cheap.. my guess is it will pass emissions new... but after the car gets driven for a couple of months it's gonna die.

Midus cat's do the same thing.. was laughing when the said it was a life time warranty on the thing when I put it on my rx-7... apparently life time means 2 cats replacements

 

Im going to pick it up tomorrow and install it at my brothers house
