canadian pricing advice

hi all

super psyched to be getting my rx8 in a couple of weeks; i live in new brunswick but have checked out most mazda dealers in the maritimes; going to buy the car (not financed or leased) cash and am just currently negotiating with a couple of dealers on a green gt loaded except nav system;
my questions are; what should i be paying for a new one out here?; what about if i bot in mtl or t.o.?; i have done some reading on this site about pricing and have seen 42-42.5 mentioned alot and i am wondering if i go in with that figure in mind will they make a deal?; i spoke face to face w/ one dealer and i said 41k all in (just to see where he would go) and he came back with 45k!!;
any and all pricing stories, adivce, tips and amounts yall paid (w/tax) would be greatly appreciated;

ps; not fully decided b/t black and green; loved the car;

after pricing somewhat myself out here, they should not be coming back with 45K unless that includes taxes. if its before taxes, walk away. im hoping to haggle my guy to around 38-39 before taxes (i suck at haggling) when its list is 41 before tax.

45k was w/all taxes; i just find it a little much to pay given some of the numbers i have seen thrown around on these boards, whether they are true is another story i guess;

ive been told that as the year comes to an end, the dealers are less likely to give up much on the cars they have, since hte new ones will be rolling out soon enough, then youll see all kinds of deals again.

that may just be heresay though

That sounds like a line a dealer would give you.
All the American car companies are running sales on 2005 models, even tho the 2006 are not here yet. It would make sense the dealer would want to clear old models before the new ones get in.

Assuming the sales tax in NB is 15% total, you should be able to get it for under 44k. Keep in mind that 42 - 42.5 is without the moonroof.

Miker2005, we here in Alberta have consistently been able to get GTs no roof for ~40.5K and lower WITH ALL TAXES. Granted we don't have the PST. Before I moved back to Alberta, I lived in Toronto and was looking to acquire the 8 there ... I managed to get down to 43K but wanted 42K all in. I'm sure if I waited it out, I would have been able to get it for that much.

A few months ago, I put my invoice up on the board for new buyers to use. Do a search under my posts or under "canada price" or something like that. Quite a few fellows have been able to get similar or better deals when they walk in with that.

In Canada, Mazda has $2000 built in to each car that goes to Scotia Bank so they can offer 3.9% financing. If you are paying cash, or you are supplying your own financing, you are entitled to a $2000 discount.

In total, with taxes, delivery, paint, inspection, etc., you should be able to drive it off the lot for $41,000 - $41, 500

Yes, or you could stick with ScotiaBank's 7.3% financing like I did, and still get the $2000 back.

Hmm...

I was able to get my GT w/NAV and roof for $39k + tax (it makes more sense to talk in before tax amounts b/c each province is different)

So, assuming you took out the NAV, and your tax is 15%, you should be able to get it out the door priced at around $43k (there are other fee's etc that are applicable too, and the fact that I didn't want the NAV allowed me to get a better price).

I'd say w/15% tax and all fees, $43k is a great deal for you.

I got my (GT w/Roof no NAV) for $35,200 before taxes. That was back in Dec. I say break there ***** until they give you what you want or just go to another Mazada Dealer. That's what I did and it worked

45???? Shop more.

I was quoted - with 0 haggling on my part - prices including Freight, PDI, not including GST/PST/Fuel Tax:

GS - 34,143
GT - 36,897
GTw/Moonroof (no Nav) 37,815

I live in Toronto, and I won't be shopping around much anymore. Pick up my car today/tomorrow, depending on when the paperwork finishes.

That might have been before frieght and PDI but i'm sure off the top of my head. the car was $42,000 on the road plus i got another 1000 rebate from Mazda so I cut them a check for $41,000

Also I believe dealer cost on a GT w/Roof no Nav is $34,000 (at least that's what it was in Dec)

Hey Frostee,

Re-read my post, you can get those prices or better at Bank St Mazda. I'll set you up with the sales guy I know there if you are interested. They have a Green GT w/roof there now, a white GT w/roof and NAV and a red GS.
