*Note: I am not the organizer, nor am I affiliated. I am simply re-posting this for information purposes.

However, if you do have any questions about the track or events there, I will do my best to answer.

FREDERICTON MOTORSPORT CLUB

HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVING COURSE

Friday 26th and Saturday 27th , August, 2005

FMC is organizing the second high performance driving course of the season with a classroom session Friday night, 26th of August from 6:00 to 10:00 pm at the Atlantic Superstore mezzanine on 46 Elm Street in Truro, Nova Scotia (Exit 14 off TCH to Robie Street- across from Tourist Bureau). Chief Driving Instructor Derek Lugar will explain driving techniques, theory, etc. Saturday morning, at AMP, will start with a walk of the track followed by one on one driving instruction in your own vehicle.

This course is a qualifying pre-requisite to Solo1 competition and lapping at AMP, plus will provide the driving school requirement for entry to the Targa Newfoundland Rally and the instructional component of the ARMS regional novice race license. It is also a great course for those who simply want to hone their driving skills and learn the performance capabilities of their vehicle. However, it is not a course to take if you are just learning how to shift a standard or have just received your drivers license.

The cost for the course is $150.00. You must be a member of an ASN-affiliated club to enter. Club memberships will be available Friday night. You will need a helmet, (minimum SA00 Snell approval) and a street vehicle for Saturday. Most of the day will be spent lapping in your own vehicle with an instructor so a passenger seat with minimum 3 point seatbelt is required.

You will use more gas and brakes than you expect. (race brake pads and high temperature fluid are recommended). Have the car checked by your mechanic and make sure it is up to the task. We will do a brief safety check of the vehicle, no loose ball joints or rusted suspension pieces allowed. Clean out the car and trunk and pump up the tires. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, no sandals. The school will be conducted rain or shine, so bring everything you need to be able to enjoy the day.

For those of you who plan to compete on Sunday, you will also need to bring a medical completed by your doctor to registration on Sunday morning. The cost of registration to the novice race is $ 75.00. You will need a race prepared vehicle or access to one. You will also require a complete race suit, shoes, gloves and current helmet specs. Following the Novice race, if you pass the written exam and are signed off by the Chief Race Instructor, you are eligible to register for further competition.

If you are not competing on Sunday, we welcome you to spectate or better yet, join one of the corner crews and help marshall for the event. These guys and gals dressed in white are the racers "eyes" around the track. There is no competition without marshals and they have the best seat in the house.

Information on Atlantic Motorsport Park is available on their web-site, see the links from our site. This is a road racing circuit, the only one in Eastern Canada, and is a challenge to all levels of driving skill.

Pre- registration is required by mailing a cheque for $ 50.00, non-refundable deposit, made out to Atlantic Region Motor Sports Inc. at 69 Pugsley Street, Fredericton, NB, E3B 6J2, prior to 19th of August, 2005. Include your name, mailing address, competition experience and the year and make vehicle you will be using. Also send an e-mail to robert.guthrie@amec.com indicating that you will be attending. A minimum of 14 entries are required in order to run the school. If it is necessary to cancel the school, all those pre-entered will be notified by e-mail and via the ARMS web site and deposits will be returned. Otherwise, please show up on August 26th at the Truro Atlantic Superstore at 6:00 pm with your cheque or money order for $100.00 (made out to ARMS) and your current club membership card.

See you on the 26th !!!
