Anyone going at Calabogie on Apr 25th ?
I'll be at Calabogie on April 25th, I was just wondering if anybody else from this club will be there at that date.

Did you ever lap at that track? I usually do 2 events per year at Tremblant. I've heard very good things about Calabogie...
Do you know if all corners are "open to pass" during that event?

I've never been there yet, you can have all the rule on their web site. So far what I understood is that you can't pass anyone if this persone is not giving you any sign to pass.
I'm going there with a friend of mine who has been there once with his S2000. Apparently it's one of the nicest track in Canada.
I'm getting my car corner balanced for that event, that will be great.

I hear nothing but good things about Calabogie. I wish I could afford the trip, have a blast and let us know how it is from the rotary perspective.

Ditto. Point to pass system only. Only certain passing zones allowed (5-6 locations usually) depending on organizing group and marshalls preference.
Lapping days are usually not open passing, otherwise it would be labelled as a racer test and tune day.
Nevertheless, there are lots of passing zones and this is a long track (1 km longer than Mosport) with 20 turns. There are lots of opportunities to do laps without any traffic and this is a phenomenal track. Very technical, elevation changes, on/off camber corners.
Heading there for a lapping day on May 1st.
Pgrothe; Post your lap times after you go! Curious to see what lap times others are getting.

500 for a first timer to lap, as they have a mandatory instructor assigned to novices, 325 otherwise I believe it is
I live like 40 km from the track and have never been, that is mostly the reason why, too rich for my blood

Well, in fact it's 350$ for the lapping day and 50$ for the instructor for a total of 400$ plus taxes.

The in-house track days are more expensive than if you signed up with a club. MCO (Motorsports Club of Ottawa) has a lapping day on May 1st. $300 for non-members, $250 for members.
They won't charge extra for a newbie but they would have people available for instruction.
Most veterans of the track (on any lapping day) would be more than happy to show you the way around the track and ensure you are learning within your limits and your car's.

Sorry, didn't look there, you are totally right. If you never went to a professional track then I suggest that to attend to a racing driving lesson first... totally worth it and it will cost you around the same amount for two days, not at Calabogie though.

unfortunately I can't justify spending tons of money so I can be allowed to go ahead and spend more money, on what essentially amounts to nothing more than memories at the end of the day(plus cooked tires and brakes). This is my point
I want to "take it to the track" but in this economy, driving home with your pants on fire seems to feed the need and be much more economical from my standpoint
i still want to drive calabogie, but until they figure out how that can happend for less then 500 bux, its not going to happen anytime soon....

I did a couple of those days last year, and at that time the events were not run by the track management, but by a group called "En Track experience" that works in conjunction with the track. I was surprised, since the website makes it look like it is run by the track management, but it isn't (at least, not last year.)
Having said all that, Calabogie is a challenging track, and in some corners there is very little room for error. I would recommend a smaller track like Shannonville or Mosport DDT for a first timer. Al Balinski (01racing) tries a few times every summer to get people from this forum out to a Shannonville event where he'll be testing his race car, and I think that would be a great, low cost way to get into lapping.

Doesn't look to me like it's a track policy, just the policy for the "Calabogie days"
