My car is finally here. It arrived at the dealership very early this morning. I called shortly after nine and found my salesperson already sitting in the car. When I got there, there was a little crowd around the cars.
The car as others have said is greater looking in person. It is GORGEOUS. Went for a little spin. The car was not even PDI'd yet. There were only 8 km on the odometer. Did not go over 5000 RPM, and you really have to watch it because it gets there rather quickly. I let the saleperson drive it also. We both found ourselves speeding without really noticing it. Handling was superb through lane maneuvers. The NAV was so accurate that it actually shound where we were at an intersection. Very impressive. Never really played with the BOSE system, but I did flatten the EQ and turned it up to maximum. No distortion from the system.
I pick it up tomorrow after my $2200 of accessories are installed and the car gets cleaned up.

I guess this answers the colour question. I bought it through Mazda of Brampton. They received four cars this morning, and another two expected tomorrow.
More pictures. The black one beside mine (reserved for the owner) became free as Mazda was providing him a Titanium one. Anyway, a guy drives by in his S2000 and wants to buy it on the spot cash. That was within 10 minutes of it being free.
We were planning to go up to Manitoulin Island for the weekend. I will be popping in to the Ajax dealership sometime next week. We could meet there if you're free.
If we stay here the weekend, I'll PM you and we could get together somewhere.
Great choice of colour and options my car will not be manufactured until sometime in August. I had a test drive last night and it was SWEET!!! :D :D :D
BTW... do you know:
How many cars the Brampton dealership will be receiving this year?
How many people there are on their waiting list?
If the dealership bypassed their waiting list (if they still had one) and sold the car the S2000 owner?

I went to Brampton Mazda and saw your car. It was still sitting out front for a while and then they came and drove it around back. Accessory time perhaps? I didn't notice anyone ever sit in it so you'll be happy to hear that.
There was a guy there who ordered a silver GS and he was there looking at it. He gets delivery tomorrow he thinks. I told him about the forum.
I was able to sit in a silver GT 6MT with moonroof and a black GT 6MT. Nobody was able to drive them or course but at least I got a chance to sit in one. One of the salesmen was trying to take the black one out since it belongs to the owner and he was going to take me along as a passenger but it didn't work out for either of us.
I've been phoning around trying to find a dealer that has got a red GT in (that's what I ordered). I would live to go see it although it will probably only drive me more crazy as I wait for mine.

All I know from Brampton is that they received 4 today and 2 tomorrow. They have another 2 coming in later. Who knows after that? You could give JP a call at the dealership and talk to him. He was my salesperson and very helpful and patient with me.
I have no idea of how many are on their waiting list. I assume the person with the S2000 would go to the bottom of the list. Having a no hassle cash deal sure helps though.
As an aside, I got to meet the district sales manager. He asked me if I was aware of the rx8forum. He then went on to say that the forum was looking for pictures of the first RX-8 in Ontario. I showed him my camera with a big grin. I asked if he was a menber. He said not, but he did regularly read the posts. I guess as a positive, Mazda personel do check in here.

The dealership might be keeping the black RX-8. You would have to give them a call to find out. Broose did manage to sit in one, so I guess that answers part of your question. If the black one gets sold, I don't see any RX-8s hanging around as owners will want them right away just like me.
made a trip down to the local mazda dealership (Guelph City Mazda)
was told they would have a couple 8's in around noon.
Took a trip down at 6:00, car's still hadn't arrived. So, me and my brother wasted some time (a half hour or so) and eventually left. We then came back at 8:00 (closing time). The salesmen were still there waiting for the cars to show up.
Finally, 8:30 rolls around. I'm just about to leave and the truck shows up. :D :D :D :D
I can say that I'm the first person in Guelph to sit in a rx8 . Didn't get to drive it, some other persons car. But I did get a short ride in the car. (30 feet at most). At 6'3" I was surprised by the amount of room in the car. Although snug, I was able to fit in the car perfectly.
I was so excited I completely forgot to take pictures, doh.
oh well, I'll be making another trip down tomorrow and see what they look like cleaned up.

If you are ever on your way to manitoulin island, and you are passing thru or near Owen Sound. I would love you to stop in at the Mazda dealership so we could check out the different colour. We just recieved our black one, and have since sold it to a fellow who works up in Tobermory. Talk to you soon or hope to see you if you are passing thru!!! Have fun with your new car they sure are fun.
