AJAX MAZDA - Bunch of Clowns!
Just thought I would share a rather interesting experience with you all that I recently had at ajax mazda....
So I go in to drop off my 8 ( end of lease ) and being unsure if i would be keeping the vehicle, decide to leave the car there until the salesclown (I won't mention any names, although i should) ...can work his "magic" and get me a better buyout...
I wait a couple of days and buddy gets back to me with an amount..couldn't believe that his buyout offer was substantially higher than what i was quoted directly from Mazda Credit...hmmmm...is this what they call "working their magic"?
so at this point i'm pretty pissed cuz i know i'm getting shafted, I tell the donkey to take the plates off my car as i'll be picking them up...
I arrive to pick up my personalized plates and notice that they've been completely butchered...at this point i'm fuming..i ask the dude for an explaination, his reply..." that's the only way they would come off" -
so now let's all ponder this...is he serious? Does he expect me to believe that a fully licenced and authorized mazda dealership can't properly uninstall a customer's plates without butchering them...and if that is the case..then it makes me wonder if they can honestly perform any type of substantial repairs..
To make matters worse...
I get home and notice that one of my licence plate covers was also missing and wasn't packaged in the cute little plastic bag - oh and for some reason a coffee stain mysteriously appeared on my plated portion of the ownership..guess the sales donkey decided it was cool to use my ownership as his coaster
So the moral of the story...STAY AWAY FROM AJAX MAZDA! Learn from my mistakes....in comparison, I usually dealt with Scarborough Mazda, the guys there are truly amazing, Russ and Alan know their stuff, keep up the good work gents!
My new ride isn't a mazda but i'll be definately bringing in my wheels there for service.
Now you're probably wondering why i didnt go to Scarborough in the first place..let's just say that I figured that the joker whom I purchased two other vehicles from previously would know how to take care of his repeat customers.
Pic below...shame Ajax Mazda..shame! Plates were butchered, bent and included scrathes on the lettering.
RESOLUTION: none yet..waiting for the GM to give me a valid explaination...will update!

Wow...those plates are butchered. Looks like they sent the receptionist out to take them off and she used a pair of wire snips.
Ya...when I called Ajax Mazda about my transmission they wouldn't even tell me if it was covered by warranty. They never returned my calls. One phone call at Scarboro, one visit, and one month later I had a new warranty replaced transmission.

I too had my tranny replaced at scarborough, no questions asked... scarborough has guys that actually know what they're doing...should also mention that GYRO MAZDA is another complete joke, high beams blew on me..they replaced the bulbs under warranty which was great...but i had to sit there and argue with the service chick for 10 minutes and have her try to convince me they were the Daytime Running lamps - i don't typically drive with my daytimes on while driving on country roads in complete darkness...
WAIT here's a good one..i witness a GYRO mechanic having his jollies fishtailing my car around the lot in the snow ..i figure ok so he likes my car..excusable sort of..i get in pull away ....crunch....he parked the rear on the curb...not excusable... call the service manager...he says he'll talk to his guys about treating customer vehicles in a proper manner but his excuse for the curb parking job...the RX8 is relatively low and sometimes it just happens!
engine light was coming on, did diagnostics was told it was fixed..lasted 2 days...took to scarborough...and gyro replaced the wrong valve...doh!

sorry it isn't funny, but I posted on here AWHILE ago about STAY AWAY from Ajax mazda...another case in point!!! With the way our rear plates work there is ZERO reason why it should be ripped off. There are plastic tabs that go into two little holes, twist and turn comes out. Make them pay for replacement plates!!

don't they know that you should unscrew the bolt, remove it and then remove the plate. Seems like there was some confusion on the order in which you do this.

As for replacement plates, finally got a hold of the GM and he gave me some typical bs on how the salesguru tried to help me out, when I would have none of it, he tried to insult me by asking me if i'm looking for 20 bucks, *****! that's when I had to tell him they were personalized ..sent over pics and asking for reimbursement of $235, they wanna play hard ball ...let's play..legal action coming up if a cheque isn't issued!
Please keep us posted on how things work out with the bastards!

BTW, don't mean to rub it in , but your high beam bulbs are your daytime running lights. And if I were in your shoes, I would've spit in the guys face!

Guy I really appreciate your praise however I still dont like when people air their grievence with another dealer online. I know what the salesperson was trying to do with your payout, however with used car prices the way they are that hasn't worked as of late, I dont think they did that on purpose. Regarding your plates I took have had to use the old vise grips to get them off..................no further comment needed.....

wow, I'm glad I didn't decide to get my 8 from this dealership! I was debating between a Shinka at Ajax Mazda or another Shinka at a HONDA dealership which came with winter tires, ended up taking the one at the Honda dealership since they were more flexible with the price and had a better attitude!

I realized that they were the same bulb after leaving the dealership, had to check for myself. Someone should have told the service consultant that instead of her trying to argue with me and convince me that they were the Daytime Running lamps and not Highbeams.

Simply put, some of the things that occur at these dealerships are unacceptable and inexcusable! The more that, we as customers speak up will hopefully make these dealerships change their ways and business practices, and if not, sadly they do not deserve to be in business.
By the sounds of it, you are condoning their actions - if a bolt is stuck anywhere on the vehicle, do you get a hammer and whack the snot out of it, indirectly causing damage to another area of the vehicle, then tell the customer to beat it? These types of solutions were acceptable in the caveman era, i would like to think that we have evolved somewhat. Someone should be held accountable!!!

Its not a matter of condoning anyone actions. I believe I understand what they were trying to do for you, and if you call me I will explain what I think happened. I have always maintained that I wont post about a fellow dealer online regardless of what the issue is. Having said that I totally understand how you feel and why you feel that way, like I said earlier I think I can explain what happened and why.

I can understand where the dealership is coming from when it comes to leases and buyouts and such. It can be disappointing when they promised something more than what they could give you. But seems like what really set you off xibit was the plates. Sorry Al, but if the plates are that badly stuck on the car where the dealership has to 'break' them off especially being a personalized plate (expensive), the customers should be informed for approval before any practice is done. In doing so, would save this kind of angry customer review. IMO!
The dealership should replace the plates in this circumstances IMO!
This is not so much a grievence as it is an opportunity to voice my opinion and inform other mazda owners of the unacceptable practices that occur at some of these dealerships. Every situation such as this, and any other negative customer experience that we as customers have, should be properly visited and reviewed by not only the GM at the local dealership level but also Mazda Canada.

Prying the license plate like that is not cool no matter what. 01Racing is not condoning their actions, its just that everyone make mistakes. Its how they own up to it that make the differences....

err...i wonder what the area behind the licence plate looks like as well on the car, since they would have had to pry it against something (unless they used plyers like someone mentioned earlier)...really hope they own up to this.

meh.. most likely like the other 75% of rx-8's that have had their rear license plate removed at one point or another. Two 1/4" holes in the back where the flimsy plate tabs use to be.
