What things to fix up before selling
I'll be getting rid of my RX-8 in the next few months (in favour of the usual more practical vehicle (Forrester maybe), but keeping the MX-5!), either as trade-in or a private sale.
There are two issues with the car as far as I can tell - the carpet has a worn hole in the driver's footwell, and I have the spurious engine coolant warning light (Mazda looked at it at the last service and concurred that it was spurious).
My question is whether I am better off getting the two issues fixed, or to leave them for the new owner to do whatever they want? The cost to fix would be probably $100-200 for the footwell carpet (I guess) and madza I think want $400 or so for the coolant reserviour replaced. Does the answer change depending on trade-in versus private?
Any thoughts/experience appreciated.
Thanks,
Noddy

Interesting...
The coolant light is a common problem, just unplug it and leave it the new owner should check it anyway. I'd fix the carpet and i agree with wantarotary I'd trade the mx5 instead with the way fuel prices are you just dont really get what the rx8 is worth atm.

Both issues will be minute for the casual buyer, most shop with their eyes. Coolant light issue is common place, and for $100.00 I would just replace it, you don't want that light scaring off a potential buyer.

'Tis done. RX8 gone, replaced by Practical Car (tm). Upside though is that I'm driving the MX-5 again!
Thanks all the forum folks for information over the last 8 years of RX-8 ownership. Enjoy your cars while Mazda still makes 'em.
