Track day gone not quite right!

I especially thought Taka may enjoy this link. Some friends of mine in the Brisbane part of a Toyota forum Ifrom my last car just had a track day up at Brisbane.

All went not quite so well. Click on the link and have a read, but the pictures tell a 1000 words

If you go to the link and then to the 2nd page of their topic their is actually an in car video from his car of the whole thing. After he goe's into the lake you get a good look at his eye's. Damn you feel for him.

Good news is his brother is a great mechanic so in 2 days had the car ship shape and running again!

What's up with Lotuses? I see them smashed, spun, and generally in all the wrong places on track all over in pics on forums & in real life. Must just be fussy to drive, another reason to love my 8 , cause it only loves me back. And what is with that little 'puddle jumper' that didn't quite get the idea - jump over the puddle, not in it :D !

Nice pics though....

just watched the vid, what happened? A FWD car in terminal oversteer on a corner under power?? How'd he do that?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Corolla's especially the Sportivo. The Sportivo has a real habit of snap oversteer if you suddenly lift off mid corner. Don't have to touch the break just lift off the accelerator. On the track their little 2zzge engines really get them pulling high speeds but the standard suspension setup is really under par. I mean a torion beam rear for **** sakes.

If you want to see how one of these Sporivo's go around a track download this video. Bloody quick little cars!

Wow. Seems he was too hot for the corner, completely lost the line, missed the apex, ran wide (turned left in a RH corner!), changed into too low a gear?, locked it up and enjoyed the ride from there on in!

Nice find, ILIV48!!

I will watch the video tomorrow.

Stuart do you want a sticky pod in your car? www.stickypod.com. I think of one, the pro said it helps you a lot but I am not sure I will pay for that. :p

Well I was thinking of trying Darlington Park. I think I'll do a few stints at Queensland Raceway until I get my confidence up - no water, no rocks, no embankments... just concrete on the last turn before the straight.

Just watched the video, pretty scary. That was the fastest corner on the track, when I was on it in the 8, if we back off the accelrator too quckly and weight shift forwards, it is easy to lose the back. On my first lap or 2 DSC kicked in to save the day.

It is a really nice track, but you as a driver gotta know your limit and shouldn't push too hard if you're not comfortable. When I went, 1 dude dinged his 911, not fun for him, but interested for the on lookers.

I don't have a video camera so not much use to me at the moment. And if I was going to spend enough to buy a decent camera I would prefer to put that towards some good track tyres instead!

Just over a month to go. I know a few mazda SP23 owners thinking of going too!

Exactly! I learnt as a callow youth in a Cooper S that braking too little too late combine with a sudden down change almost always led to tail overtaking nose...often a few times :o

I wonder how many laps he'd done before that incident.

Glad to hear it all worked out for him....always expect to pay for your education

Mu main focus is as long as I am faster than those little worked Mini Cooper S's. With their semislicks on they lap pretty bloody fast!
