Thought I would post a thread here in the Aussie forum to let you guys know as I see it there are Spirit R's coming to Australia (Basically the Series II Aussie GT Version).

EPC shows production of them for AUST was on the 1st December, 3 days ago today.

So I would be looking at supply here in late January or early February.

I have done an extensive look through EPC and there are no mechanical changes, it is all cosmetic...

So if you are interested, contact you local Mazda Dealer and hassle them.

I think we will only see one maybe two allocations (shipments).

Price, as I see it is will cost No more than the current GT.
Mazda Australia have no justification asking any more given our high dollar...
It should be selling for $38,000 not $60K asking now for GT.

OK..

Well this is the email I got back from the CEO of Mazda Australia...Mr Doug Dickson.

Find it very strange, as I have never been let down by MMC (Mazda Europe) on-line EPC.
SR Wheels, Interior Console Side Trims (in Piano Black), Badges are listed which is only for the Spirit R and associated parts shows the same productions date and for AUST (Australia).

So we will see

Dear Ashley – we are not sure where you obtained your information but there is no Spirit R production for Australia.

Hope it does come to Australia as it may open the door for grey import down the track.

South Pacific Island markets use our ADR (Australian Design Rules) and there were a few made for the AUST ADR, hence my excitement found in MME EPC.

So, there are some Spirit R's around somewhere, just not in Australia.

In fact the RX-8 has gone off Mazda Australia's website from start of 2012..
