Saying goodbye to my RX-8
Well it's been a blast, but the time has come to get a grown ups car because:
Twisty country roads are where it excels, but alas, I only get to drive like that a couple of times a year at most.
So I have traded in the RX-8 on a new Nissan X-trail Ti for my wife to drive, and I will have her Mazda 3 for my daily driver. I'll get to drive it on the weekends though!
Would have liked to keep it in the Mazda family, but the CX-5 is a bit on the small side when it comes to legroom, and we thought the CX-9 was too big and felt dated. Shame there curently isn't a CX-7, it would probably be about right. Love the x-trail though, but I will certainly miss the RX-8....maybe one day when the kids grow up and get there own cars I can get another sports car......
Anyway, just wanted to wave bye bye, and thank you all for making this forum so great, and for the memories of some great road trips with you guys!
- The kids are getting bigger, and they don't fit in the back of the 8 or my wifes 3 so well anymore. We need more space!
- I have been having problems with my hip, which seem to be aggravated by driving the 8 in Auckland's awesome rush hour traffic.
- It's coming up on 120,000km and I've started to worry about how much life it's got left in it before it goes BANG!

It will be sad to see that car go, as I think they will become quite collectable in about 20 years. Yes we did have some good trips and your photos have been great.
Sorry that we didn't organise some more trips.
Hopefully you may realise that you just have to have more then one car, a family car and a sports car.
Anyway hope all is going well.

Thanks guys.
Unfortunately it isn't practical for me to keep the 8 as a second car right now, but yes, when the kids get older I will definitely be looking at getting a fun car again.

Scott found same issue kids getting bigger. Trying to keep my 8 and get a SP25 as Monday to Friday car
Had my RX8 nearly 2 years now only issue was stuffed fuel pump.
I have email mazda about the airbag recall so will see what response I get from them
