RX8 Car BRA

So I was driving from Vic to NSW and back the other weekend. When I got to each destination I noticed that I had quite a collection of bugs splattered in all kinds of ways on the nose of my beast.... even underneath, in the side, under this under that.

Anyways... to get to the point; My wife asked me, 'Why don't you get one of those car bra's?'

Fantastic IDEA!!!

Anybody come across a car bra for an RX8? Of course, you notice Holden and Fords driving with em, on their precious SS's and stuff... but I want one for my RX.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated! :P

Cheers Gents,

Jezza

There's been a bit of discussion on this.. some suggestions that a car bra will rub damaging the paintwork. I'm sure a search will bring some of this up.

I bet on a really good couple of coatings of wax prior to a long trip - makes cleaning a lot easier.

I used one of the Mazda bras on a trip from Sydney to Adelaide and back... Made sure the car was super clean before putting it on and it made it a breeze to clean afterwards.

If you do get the one from the US (as I did from Taka's link, it's fairly cheap by itself but shipping was soooo expensive!), make sure that you disable your pop-up headlight washers.

BTW I bought mine to prevent dents rather than cleaning but after 18 hours of driving in Summer those bugs can be pretty tough to get off paintwork so that was an added bonus!

There is one company that has always made car bras for my car, they actually are the manufacturers. Their name is Robco Products, their web address is www.robcoproducts.com.au or phone | 61 2 9560 5393
If they don't have a product then they custom make it. They are really really good guys.

I got mine from Car-Bra Australia in Victoria. ph 03 9469 5366.

It fits great and does the job nicely on long trips. Price was $300-odd and it arrived within a week of ordering it. Can't remember exact details because it was almost 2 years ago.

I have not heard of bra's damaging paintwork. Mine certainly doesn't. There's a fleece lining on the inside to make sure of that.

All Bra's are not created equal, so compare photo's of different Bra's before you buy one. Some protect different areas of the bumper differently and some have better air-flow into the engine. Some are also easier to fit.

EmporerJazzy,

I looked at getting a Mazda original car bra a while back from the 'states and the only thing that stopped me from getting one was the shipping cost. If you are looking at getting one maybe you could see what discount they will do for two and if shipping would be any cheaper. I am still interested in getting one if the price is right!!

I had spoken to Mazda Australia on the track day last year about getting them made an Australian accessory and they took my number and said that they would call me and let me know. Well typical of MA to leave people in the dark but no-one called me back.

Do you really think that mudflaps will avoid mud/dirt get to the sides of the car?

I think he wants to make the car black to match the red/black interior :p. The interior is too stand out (or too loud) in a clean silver car.

That barely even warrants a reply, but I shall state the obvious, to protect the paint work on long trips, some people actually leave the city with thir cars

lol, sorry to say I'm not that precious about the car, and even if it was a ferrari i still wouldn't bother....

bug guts blast off pretty easily with a high pressure hose from car lovers..... maybe 3-4 seconds....
