Here's what I did to mine, I don't have a good enough scale to weigh it though. Cut off everything, I figured if it skips that many ribs to get off the pulley something else is wrong. I'm also going to run an electric water pump though, so worst case scenario is it comes off and then the car runs on battery power until it drains that and shuts off since the only thing being turned by the belt is the alternator.

The Mazda pro 7 club has bought an rx8. this car will be built to promote the club and will be available for lease at race weekends as well as hot laps etc.

Its been a while since I last worked on the RX8 after buying a house, so the car has been neglected a bit.
Over the next few weeks ill give it a birthday and get it ready for some testing before labour weekends opening round of pro7.
I had planned to remove some weight over the off season but run out of time. I redesigned the rear half of the cage to allow the rear inner skin and parcel shelf structure to be removed. Even have the cad files of the tube notches. This may have to wait until next winter.

Do the Pro7 rules require you to run stock looms? Looks like a lot of messing around to remove the unused wires.

We use the standard computer. There is no benefit using an aftermarket ECU as the stock one if fully programmable.

It’s been a while since the last update.
I had a failed bearing in the front rotor late last year so the engine has since been rebuild.
Also got a new set of rims and tyres, over the last couple of meetings I have been struggling with grip as the old set of boots have done about 70 to80 heat cycles.
I have made a bit more progress by removing the sound deadening from the car.
8kg of dry ice and half a bottle of thinner later the car looks much better,
Also ordered the roll cage kit.
How did you remove the strut across from under the dash? The bolts on mine look to be welded to the body and i need to remove the cross bar to get out the heater box. HEEELP

Yep, bolts under the rubber caps on the drivers side. You can actually remove the heater box while it's connected to the dash bar - and even while the dash itself is on.
Also make sure you undo the nut that's holding the HVAC to the firewall as it's not documented in the dash removal section of the workshop manual.
I'm trying to get the dash bar out or heater box it and I'm hitting a snag. I've removed the bolts under the rubber caps, removed the bolts from the steering rack connected to the dash bar, I've removed pretty much every bolt I've seen that looked like it was connected to the dash bar. I'm trying to pull the heater box to replace the core. Any suggestions?
It is an end of an error. The car has been sold.After not racing this season due to other commitments I took part in a one off meeting at Manfeild for round 5 of the 2016/16 pro7 season.In what proved to be the last meeting racing the car I took a race win and 2 3rds which was enough for the round win.No I’m on the lookout for a 94-02 FD RX7 to turn in to a pro street super lap car.Let the new project begin.Oh the car is staying in the family.
