Mad Midwinter Rotor Run - MMRR
#79
Hi all, I'm planing to win my first rotary RX8 at auction on the 24th July so all going well I might be able to make this run. Looking forward to learning about rotary engines. The car I'm buying is ruff as I plan to use it on the track after setting it up for drift. It's an 2003 6 speed, Is there someone local that can supply me with parts and maybe do some mechanical work etc? Cheers Nicholas

Hope your auction goes well.
The only hope of having your question answered would be to let people know what part of the country you live in.

Only 7 Days to go.
Don't forget anyone that's interested in coming along will need to check the first posting of this topic to find out what you need to have on the day. Make sure you set up your twitter account. There will be nothing on paper at this event.
For anyone that hasn't done one of these events before, this is not a follow the leader type event. Each car will be going off individually.
Having said that, there is a cruise part of the event as well.
Lets hope for some good weather on the day.
See you all soon.

Brett, I have been posting up a tweet every day, so you should have got something if you have your phone setup.
Otherwise just go to twitter and see what has been posted.
I know that you are following me, so you just need to have a look at what I have put up.
If you want tweets sent to you as a text, then you need to set that up on your tweeter account.
Here are the instructions again.
Don't forget everybody to add your phone to your twitter account for this event.
Go to your twitter page
Find settings along the top
Click on settings
Then click on the tab marked Mobile
Put your mobile or tablet number that you are going to use on the event in the necessary places and activate.
Then making sure your phone/tablet is on, text Go to the number listed on the twitter page.
Save Changes.
Now once you have activated your phone, you can go back to your twitter page on your computer and again find settings
Click on settings
Then click on the tab marked Mobile
Check the boxes next to Text notifications for each type of notification you would like enabled for your device.
Save Changes.
Now you should be able to receive tweets as a text message, which will make it easier for everyone on the day of the event.
If you still have a problem, let me know and I will post another tweet for you.

Never mind Stephen, hopefully you can make it to another event at some stage.
Hopefully we will get some good photos and post them up after the event.

It was a great day out, good weather for the middle of winter.
Plenty of good driving roads to have fun on. Pity that the modern technology didn't really help us with the running of this event, as most everyone came to a halt when they had no cellphone coverage.
Guess that's something to think about before looking into another event. Old technology may still be the best to use when running an event out into the country side where cellphone coverage is limited.
Unfortunately we only managed to get just over half the event completed before we ran out of day light.
So at 6pm last night we were still only in Taupo. So the decision was made to end the event and head home.
Our car load managed to get back to Auckland about 8.30-9.00pm. We had to pick up another car which didn't want to start at first. After half an hour of mucking around, we got away and we finally got back up home to Whangarei by 11.45pm.
So all in all it was a very long day and a lot of driving.
I think what I will do is at some stage is put together another event, probably in the summer months which incorporates the other half of this event we didn't get to do.
Lets see what everybody's thoughts were on this event first.
Thanks for everyone that turned up, I hope you all enjoyed yourselves.
