Question Loud deep beep, display resets

Still finding all the buttons and gizmos, but I can't find any reference to this in the manual.

Approx 30 seconds after the car is turned on there is a loud deep sounding beep and the centre display reset and remind me I'm driving a "MAZDA RX8". I read somewhere about a deep beep being part of the security feature. Do I have to clear it's memory or rest somthing?

Any ideas ?

Thanks
Steve

That loud deep beep is the car horn.
Move your seat back and dont lean on the wheel. :-)

In all serisousness though, i dont know how to answer your problem.

Security feature? You must be talking about ABS test. Its a feature, for security, and beeps (although not through speakers or horn) when driver hits 10km/h, rather than 30seconds.

It could well be...

Oh and the "MAZDA RX8" should be appearing immediately when the ignition is "ON"

They issued you with the limited edition "roadrunner" supplementary boost unit.

Seriously though it's not normal! Get it checked!

No, they are the best dealer here But I recently had an issue with my car, and they may have 'borrowed' the replacement part from another car in stock. Nothing wrong with this, IMO -- as long as everything gets back together ok. Don't want to say any more on a public forum

No it's not thre horn....... lol :p
No it happens even when the 8 is sitting in the drive. Radio cuts out, beep, display resets, then back to normal and away I go. No it's not a Slaven car.

Whats the consensis Phillip or Belconnen for dealers?

I'm getting a very loud annoying beep from time to time. It's very baffling. Some times it happens when I just sit in the car with the radio on or off. Also happens when I'm driving at various speeds. It happened about 20 times in 10 minutes the other day. Then today it went off twice in 30 minutes. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Very weird but very annoying. It has happened as well with just the ignition on ( car not running ). The loud annoying beep comes out through the speakers, so I guess it has something to do with the audio unit. It's the original one so nothing has been changed.

Has anybody had this happen or know what is causing this to happen ????

As above, mine does that due to the Blue tooth connecting, also when I have a low battery the phone beeps low bat, and trys to connect to the blue tooth in the car. Maybe that was the '20 times in 10 minutes'

Horay for a 7 year bump! First thing I thought of was possibly the key battery going bad. Perhaps the car is trying to let you know or maybe it is loosing its link with the car if the battery is dying.

Also a thought along the lines of what sqz said; Did you buy the car used? Maybe the bluetooth is looking for the previous owners phone?
