I'm v.sorry to ask you guys this question - about ECU ( Apexi )

Apexi power FC is discontinued T.T

well... i searched..and searched..but couldn't find one for rx8.

which one do i mean to use? where is only ones for sylvia..skyline..evo... and so on....closest one is rx7 fd3s one??

Which one do i actually have to use????

I was working whole day today...I didn't have enuf time to quote places...

Well i've been to advan.. ( they don't supply cusco any more! and heard new news.. just to me.. that Apexi has closed down?? power fc is discontinued. )

Tmr is sunday... other shops won't open.. so can anyone please answer me??

if i recall,they never made any ECU for RX8,if that what you mean.. why don't your try Microtech LT 10's

there is specific model for rx8?? or.. is it like universal for Mazda or something??

there is currently no ecu from apexi for the rx8 that will work.

generally they are specific to the car so this option wont work for the rx8

Ahhh... so you meaning power fc on rx8 won't function well???

then what else is cost efficient?? for rx8. ( ECU )

Why do you ask for any ECU?

They are piggyback, most of them.

They act as a controller to take in part of the info and replace the stock ECU for some function.

The word standalone ECU confuses me. Unless you take the stock ECU out and replace it with another - then it is an ECU.

Most product available in Australia will be a direct replacement.

Japan has replacement ECU, but they need to put in your car details and maps. So you are basically out. I have not asked around how to get around that. Love to have an ECU from Japan to play with.

So for your best money buy MoTeC or Microtech or keep the money in the bank. I choose the last option.

I am sure someone told you before - there is a search button!
Read up about the car first... there is too much info here. You don't sound like you like to read, and people are avoiding to answer your questions since it is obtainable somewhere else.

rotormaster/ric shaw has piggyback one

motech has an ECU (check with city performance)

microtch has an ECU (check their website for more details)

stand alone ECU is an "illegal" item to use on public roads.

oh, and unichip has a piggyback one too, as well as the greddy e-manage

its a waste of time/effort/money piggybacking an already highly tuned NA car imo. you will get very little or next to nothing gain out of it.

it'd be a different story if the car is FI'ed.

It is nothing to do with the company.

It is just the fact that there is not much gain unless you are willing to change the whole intake and exhaust, and tune it well. With the stock set up it is waste of time.

Eric and Taka are confirming everything I've ever read about it Cromax.

You'll often hear people who have done it defending it but that's human nature - nobody likes to think they've just wasted a lot of time and money. I'm yet to hear of any reliable evidence that there is much to gain from a NA version. As Eric said, FI is different, but then again, so are several other things when you go down that path.

I was of the opinion that it wasn't worth doing intake and exhaust until after doing an ECU. If I can get substantial gains from all three I'd do it, but a few kw here and there isn't substantial enough to warrant it ...

how much substantial gains will you be happy with after the exhaust/intake/piggyback mods?
def. find a tuner you can trust for on & off ecu tuning.

The gains I would want would have to be substantial, not minor.

How many gains should I expect with an intake, exhaust (extractors back) and ecu piggyback?

A lot of tuners in Japan try to do the best for it.

There is one tuner can tune the car from 210ps to 280ps. That is with a CF intake, modified throttle body, extractor to muffler change and tune it max with MoTeC. Of course, it will be a race tune.

Most people claim there are about 20ps at the wheel with all the goodies. That is intake, extractor, cat back and exhaust.

You see most people claim that part get 10ps and get part get 5ps. But if you add the parts to together. It is not like 10+5+5.... it is more like 10+ Y(5+5). .... I read this in the article from Fujita in the Vol 2 of the RX-8 HyperRev.

To sum up.... yes you will free up some considerable power, but at some cost.

Having said that I am going to maintain it NA form.

Wow! That's certainly the most I've heard from those kind of mods. I wonder what the thing is like to drive???

I decided a while ago that unless you're going to go FI, most claimed power mods are a waste of $$$. An exhaust is fun for the better noise but I'm content to leave intake and ECU alone.
