have a look for the top gear review of it. it's a laugh a 1.3 deisel hatch drags it off and wins over the length of an air strip.

I agree with MikeyR

Every bloody Lancer GSR owner who can afford a huge rear wing and a shitty exhaust drives around as if he's Carlos Sainz without the power.

So imagine what that hacth would do to the RX8

DONT GET ME WRONG I LOVE OUR CARS BUT GETTING FRUSTRATED THAT ITS HARD to extract decent power without major upgrades .

Both the Subaru STI and the EVO IX HAVE A MULTITUDE of add on parts sanctified by the manufacturers giving them easy access to greater power infact the manufacturers encoure it .

Mazda has the opposite policy of not encouraging owners in their upgrades , i believe this is a huge mistake on their part as the RX8 is not getting adequate following hurting its image as a go hard sports car .

cheers

Michael,

In a word, I don't give a toss, I still think the Evos, "powerfull" as they, are boring. There are shed loads of options for go fast cars. Straight line, round corners, under about $150k they all have their good points. None do the lot....and i can see the can of worms opening before me, but stuff it.

Ya wan't to look like a nana with a second hand F1 spoiler bolted to your grocery pit, buy a Mitsu. Personally I'm satisfied.

I would however buy a 7 or maybe end one of them shitfull other mitsu's (think 3k) which infest this country. They at least look interesting.

Don't despire Lock... I am sure you love a car that drives well rather than it goes well. There is major difference here.

Everyone owner here earn my respect because your sense of a good drive is similar to mine. Otherwise, you would have sold your car by now.

Many of you have hope, such as Dave(Ciao) , and I encourage adventure modding to this machine, whatever route you take will interest me. And yes the chassis is so well built that it can take anything.

My sense of a good drive is my old car Integra DC2 (99-01), Porsche Boxster (+/- S), and Lotus Exige. Your RX-8 handling is up there, despite the roll.

I agree with L&L that they should promote go-fast bits by loosening the engine to accept
more horses. But to be honest, Mazda sell these cars to a group different to that of a WRX or 350Z, and that is more than enough to steal customers out of the SUV, family sedans and even 2-seater sports car category. For the targets they've aimed at, the RX8's power is more than adequate.
But its true that they should devote more to enthusiasts like us.
Hell, in the end, I'd buy a real sports car that has style from all angles
then buy a SHOPPING TROLLEY that screams FULLY SICK!

Crikey...last time a thread covered the Lancer and I responded "butt ugly", I was given a hard time....good to see some taste on the forum :D

I reckon the 8 has adequate power...that's why I bought it. It has more than enough for the road, and as much as I need for the track, with four seats (and doors!)....and great style.

RXP33D's quote = LOL

that's the biggest difference between a WRX/evo and a rx-8. the former are shopping trolleys with the comfort of a Hyundai or worse!
the rx-8 only lacks performance compared to the STI or EVO. the std wrx isn't particularly fast unless you modify it.

so should we all get together and stage a protest to Mazda? or maybe a petition? or just say to hell with it I'll just modify the car to what I want. I'm with the latter as Mazda will only bring in the soft mazdaspeed parts that wont make the car any faster

And charge a hefty premium for their service... Just look at the Australian RX-8 accessory prices compared to those offered in the USA..

or the price of camera's or tv's or skateboards....it's cause we live in small markets with no competition and high margins on everything!
