No photos other then the pre-PD ones I posted Monday - My digital camera has had the richard. Good quality Nikon
No time to write much yet - I just want to drive it. I plan on writing a full "road test" to post on the LS1 forum, which I will copy here.
Cheers,
Hymee.
Well done Hymee,
Another Brisbane RX8.
I have had mine for a few weeks now and it is by far the best car I have ever owned!

I continue to be really impressed by the new car. Did nearly 100 km the first night. Was surprised the owners manual said not to go past 7000 RPM for long periods in the first 1000 km!!
Couldn't sleep much that night. Decided at 5:30 am to take it for a drive up to Mount Me and back through D'Aguilar, Wamuran and Caboolture.
When I started it that morning it was the first time I had started it from dead cold. The ECU keeps the revs up fairly high for the first few seconds, which I wasn't expecting. Let it run for a bit before I took off nice and steady.
Took the road down through Petrie, and then headed out along Dayboro Road. I took a short excursion at Whiteside to a nice long steep road I know where I normally take new cars. Go up and down the hill putting some good pressure behinds the seals to help bed them in. Both under load, and under compression, at various RPM. Nothing silly though.
A nice gentle criuse along Dayboro Road to Dayboro, then started the climb up the tourist drive. Lovely twisties. The gearbox is an absolute pleasure, and the engine is happy to pull from well down in the rev range, so you have your chioce of gears - easy to keep running the engine at different RPM.
The thing corners like it is on rails. And I havn't even pushed it yet. It was always willing to turn in more and more. It is way too easy to break the speed limit. (That is quite a statement coming from a 5.7L, 235rwkW machine). 2nd gear, squeeze the throttle out of one corner, up to 3rd and squeeze it a bt more along the straight, up to forth and singing sweetly. Time to check the speedo. Wholy Hell - 105km/h. Wasn't this only a 60 zone? Better not wake the cows.
An absolute pleasure. The rest of the trip was more of the same. Just big smiles.
At work we went for a few "field trips". Testing some GPS project we are working on in various configurations. Mt Coot-tha seems like a nice place to do some testing - "Anyone one wan't to come for a drive to do some testing?..." A couple of car loads later, and I still have some more wanting to go for a spin.
1/2 way to the first service already! A bit thirsty, but I will monitor it and see how it goes. Made 13.2 l/100km (17.8 MPG) for the first tank. It will be interesting to see how you guys go. That is comarible to the mileage I got out of the SS. Guess I will just have to fill up a bit more often since the tank is smaller.
Going out to Qld Raceway today for the Saturday afternoon sprints. I won't be "racing", but I have a few buddies with LS1's who will be having a craking good time.

Just filled mine for the first time -- 389kms, just under 50L = 12.85L/100km = 18.3 US MPG = 22 Imperial MPG
Light came on about 10kms before I filled while I was idling facing uphill.
About half was highway driving. Highway driving involved a lot of slowing down and acceleration to vary RPM. Never went over 6K in city driving and most changes were 3.5 to 4k.
I hope it picks up a bit. I would like to see 500+ km from a tank once she has settled down.
BTW what RON fuel did you use. GP put Mobil PULP (95) in it when it was new. I normally used BP Ultimate (98) in the SS. I am on a tank of Vortex (Caltex, 95) now. Not sure if I am tempted to try 91 RON ULP, as the warning says to use PULP.
Great looking car... looks a lot like mine :D Black and white plates look good.
It looks like you were parked somewhere on Mt Cootha.
Did you do a lap around there this morning? I didn't see you (bummer), but one of the guys from work said he saw a red RX8 heading towards Mt Cootha this morning.

Well spotted. It was at Mt Coot-tha. But it was last Friday arvo.
This morning - the closest I got to heading towards Mt Coot-tha was on Coro Drive just before work :p
