Fuel consumption
Hey guys,
I know that this has been posted before, but just wondering what kind of kms you are getting from the tank and what fuel you are using.
I am getting about 420kms from a full tank, and have tried different fuels, with BP ultimate being the best so far.
I dont drive the car hard, try short shifting and keeping the revs below 3750rpm but it makes no difference, any help would be great!

i dont really drive hard al the time, but 90% of the 20k kms ive done so far was around the city and guess what, i do 300km on 1 tank and im happy ...
on monday when i went on the track, i filled up full tank, than drove from the city to e creek(40km), done around 25 laps(100km) and on the way back i had to stop for fuel

I have clocked up just on 3000km in the 4 weeks I have had the car. No traffic, 2 650 km trips down the Pacific Highway and mostly driving through hilly country locally. Best result 500km worst 450. The first tank seemed to be the worst economy even though I kept the car under 5000 rpm for the first 1000km.
You can't have your cake and eat it.
I think 11 - 12 l/100 km in enthusiastic driving on mountain roads is pretty good. It is certainly better than any HSV driver will ever get and I don't hear complaints from them about fuel economy.

Just cause ur stinkin rich Kall dont rub it in our faces!!!!!!, I get about the same 400-450km from a tank depending on heavy my foot is, cant say that any one fuel has been better than another.

im not stinkin rich, but cmon you all know wat you get urself into when you buy the rx8. its not a secret it uses up a lot of petrol and oil.
its just annoying when people whinge about the consumption. seriously just buy a hyundai excel or a barina which can do over 600km on a little 40litre tank of normal unleaded

was a good car while i was in uni lol
ahhh memories........
i can get 500km with the rx8, thats when im roaming around my holiday house tho, which is mainly hwy driving. normal driving i find i cant even get 400kms at most times.

Not complaining - but just for the record I get 270-320km normally, most ever was 455km with a couple of hours of highway driving.
You have a sports car guys - enjoy it. Don't scrooge around the joint trying to save a couple of bucks on petrol at the expense of driving pleasure.

250-300km is what i get as an average.
In my opinion the computer in the car sucks, big time(from the users point of view), it doesnt even show the average or actual consumption ...
Well, and i also dont care about how much fuel it burns, the rx8 is there to enjoy the sporty driving
IT WASNT'T BUILD FOR THOSE OF YOU DOING UNDER 4K RPM just to push the cost down. ....

I always say, that u shouldnt buy a car that is worth more than your annual income, than if u make 60k after tax(enough to buy new 8), i dont see a problem to pay for the petrol and enjoy cruising around.

Like Kall, I couldn't give a ****. Drive it, have fun with it, when the fuel runs out, put more in.
I redline the thing several times EVERY time I drive it. What's the point of owning one of the highest revving cars on the market if you don't rev it above 4K.
Besides, it's good for the engine.

you will find that banks dont give a **** nowadays who they loan to. im shocked at times of the amount of money the banks lend certain people ive come across who can barely stand on their own 2 feet.

there is no logical way to say - oh i earn 60k income so i can buy 60k car. no doesnt work that way. its not logical, there is no logic when comes to spending money on cars!

anyway end rant, almost smashed my car this morning cuz stupid **** on a mobile fone decided to turn left off 1 of the busiest roads - springvale road, at 9am this morning and leave half her bloody car sticking out onto the left lane, and yep whos coming along thinkin "oh yea this stupid ******** is gonna turn left and move their bloody car any minute now" nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo leave half the fukn car sticking out!!!!!!! didnt even have enuff time to brake, my coffees went flying, i dont even know how i fit between her stupid car and car beside me, cuz im pretty sure there was a car beside me.
all i have to say is thanks god for ebay - i got my floor mats off ebay and they are thicker and nicer then the mazda ones, and guess wat, 2 COFFEES - NO COFFEE SEEPED THROUGH THE FLOOR MAT. I had spilt coffee with the mazda mats and yea they seeped through.

I was talking to a Virgin pilot on the weekend who drives a 92 Corolla. He had to replace the alternator and half way through the process he realised "Why am I doing this when I can afford to buy a bloody Porsche?"
He is going out this week to buy another Corolla.

The wealthiest person I know is a friend of my parents and he drives the XD Fairmont Ghia he bought new ... he owns one of the largest seafood wholesalers in south australia and he lived across the street from where I grew up.
