Hi All

I have a 07 RX8 with ~47000km and my mechanic tells me the cat is gone (engine light keeps coming on and going off msg is from teh second o2 sensor) seems a bit early for the cat to go and on enquiry for the part it was mentioned that this is a known issue for the RX8 and should be covered by the manufacturer i have the 5 yr warrenty - which i have recently found out means NOTHING! any ideas?
also looking for a set of second hand standard mags if anyone has a set or part set they are looking to offload?

I had cat replaced last year on my '05 under warranty. It was either a P0420 or P0137 I think..can't remember. Mazda dealer replaced cat under warranty no problem. I work at a used car dealership and my guys in the shop told me it was cat problem because we just had an '04 for sale that did the same thing and went to dealer. The only thing the Mazda dealer said was if it was something else they would charge me for diagnosis...1hr. So pretty much I knew for sure and they paid parts and labor. I was looking at like $2K if it was outta emissions warranty. Might be worth a trip to Mazda if it is. You should still be under warranty.

Well that is bull-crap ... Mazda is obligated to fix the CAT .... wait where are u located ...
Anyways in North America that is just rubbish ... try another dealership.

Or have a look around the forum in the area where you live and try and find another RX8 owner ... some one to coach you or recommend a better dealer
