Anyone got a Neo iOn SP installed?

Hi guys,
I picked up my second hand silver RX-8 yesterday and am just getting acquainted with it.

Just checked http://www.mp3yourcar.com and they mention RX-8 car units need a special firmware version - version 9.55+. Is this available to get loaded from Australian dealers? I've got the 6-stack CD player.

Also, I'm considering getting a Motorola or Sony Ericsson Bluetooth car kit installed along side this ipod attachment. I don't know anything about car stereos, but will there be enough plugs for both to work at the same time?
Thanks,
Sid

Hey mate..

funny you should ask this..

i've been exchanging emails with that website this morning...

i am about to buy 2 of these kits..one for my RX8 and one for my SP23... i have firmware 9.67 on my 04 rx so should work fine...

if you want to get in on the purchase i can get 3 and maybe get a discount...

my Girlfriend is in LA at the moment and they said they would send them to her hotel for nix.. she will be back in sydney next thursday so hopefully the timing will work out fine

let me know if you want in..

Cheers

s.

Hmm....I tried checking the firmware but couldn't do it. Can someone tell me exactly which buttons I need to press to find it?

To find out which revision your vehicle has, press and hold "TEXT" and "1" for a few seconds while the radio (FM) is on.

You definitely cannot upgrade the firmware in Australia. The only way to get better than 9.55 HU firmware is to get a new HU

On the bluetooth car kit, if you can find an installer who can figure out how wire up so it uses the stereo speakers or even just mutes the stereo, let me know. Mine -- a specialist installer -- couldn't, but then I was an early adopter

When I did that it just said 'Clear' and went back to the normal FM screen.

I've got a 04 (May build) car...

You're right. I finally managed to check it and luckily my car is 9.55. Now for my second question - does anyone know if I can install both a iPod adaptor and a Bluetooth car kit at the same time?

Well, yes...but I don't know of a successful installation in Aust where the BT kit mutes the music source when a call comes in....must be possible, cos there's that mute button on the steering wheel.

For iPod connection, I have one of OverLoad's Aux-in modules -- see www.sylfex.com -- but this doesn't give you steering wheel control. All solutions which offer this require HU firmware >9.55
