Did Mrs ILIV48 see you post this?

I might print this out and and hold for safe keeping. It might come in useful one day.

Oh dear, I've started something.

Let's get back to safer issues such as where we're sleeping and eating...

I agree. Not who we're eating and who we're sleeping with.

Nats

Hey guys great work on keeping the Nats alive. Full marks to VIC. and of course MACCA. Going to Winton will keep the enthusiasm high. Taka at home!
Anyway, I'm in.
Revolver, I'll take up your offer of NSW co ordinator. Think the Top of the Town in Benalla is a good option.
Now I just have to: fix the severe engine miss, fix the leaking coolant issue, fit new brakes and get rid of a dodgy shock - almost ready. Oh yeah must give it a clean. Not often I get excited but looking forward to this one.
Rod.
p.s Taka, can you show me the lines? :-)

Im sure its being worked on but if the numbers get to the stage where a motel in Benalla may not suit, there is always the Benalla Leisure Park which could accommodate everyone, is close to town, good parking and plenty of communal area, plus a pool and wifi for the needy. And likely to be very well priced. I agree that Top Of The Town is also a good place and the have 4 single rooms/12 Double rooms/6 family rooms and 1 Self contained apartment. If I recall it was one of the closest to the Track end of town...

Here is some footage to help prepare anyone new to Winton. Anyone recognise their RX8 being overtaken?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdfWGum8KvE

It looks like the turbocharged cars are going to have quite an advantage. Interesting track!!

The powers that be are apparently working on accommodation Rod and I'm yet to discover which is the favoured town (Ben or ****).

However, if it gets too hard for them, I'll book something for the 3 of us (and any other Sydney/NSW guys who want to come).

That was Craig (RXVIII's friend) on our Winton's day back in August!

dunno what time did he get? RXVIII He did not have a transponder at the time.

No turbo cars are not a huge advantage. It is a track for good handling cars.

Note the HSV are only doing 1 mins 42-43 sec there! Not far in front of the RX-8 who has a lap time of 1.44.6

More time in my blog
http://myrx8.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!39240444194ED2E2!168.entry

I am at 1.43.146 now. Hope to go under 43s in March 11.

The team is going field searching after our track day on March 11. Stay tuned.

I think Craig was doing 1:52s at the start of the day then got better as the day went by. I think he got down to a 1:49.... He was using a Mychron laptimer. I'm sure RXVIII could ask what his best laptime is for that day. His car is not turbo charged but an inline boxer 6 station wagon Liberty with Falken RT615s on them. I am not too sure about his suspension mods though and I'm certain his suspension setup is not standard.

I like Winton track more than Sandown as the circuit is more challenging and safe to drive on. A great track to learn.

Certainly the best track in Victoria, even better then Philip Island (someone from the south just gave me a smack )

Tell you what it is good about Winton (commission free plug).
  • It is nice quiet country town nearby.
  • Nice burger in the kiosk
  • The road is flat and smooth, unlike the Sandown international raceway.
  • The timing facility is state of the art (when the monitor is working ). Check out mylaps.com
  • Nice track with plenty of G force. Even some motorcycle track in the south does not have that G force.
  • Safe - I can point out there is only ONE area that can hurt you. If it is dangerous,
  • Andrew will be long dead
  • The staff is truly friendly, until you do something to **** them off and they will have a cane and go after you

Guys, hold your horses on the accommodation. there are a number of options open to us and I am trying to get the best option. No hotel in town has more than 1 or 2 bookings for this weekend and hasn't since I first asked 3 months ago. Only issue now is that the we have more people to deal with.

Just about to make a phone call anyway so will update in a few minutes.

Cheers

Andrew

I'm not stressing. Just letting you know I was happy to look after our part of it if the organisers decided to leave that to participants. Happy to let you guys do the work.
