I've recently met someone who is working at Mazda Australia as a mechanic and we found out we live very close to each other. I asked him to go for a drive with me on my 8 this morning and see if he could advise me what is that strange nosie i am having on my car at the moment.. he said that it should be because of the airbox but at the moment he can not be 100% sure. He said that on Monday when he goes to work he'd try to get a normal RX8 to drive and see if the noise is normal. (cos my dealer told me the noise is normal!) The reason that he said he would try to get a normal RX8 is because there is now only two TURBO RX8 at Mazda AUstralia that they can drive around.. one Red n one Black, they r both 200hps at wheels! He said that he and his other two workmates are they only people who've been working on the turbo RX8 project. He also told me that they recently did testdrive the black turbo 8 at Oran Park and this black beaut should be on the Wheels magazine soon... (one of the pictures that Wheels has taken is when the black beaut was drifting..)

is the red one from the motorshow and the black one was spotted by DMRH not long ago

well we all love to know if there will be a limited edition for the public... of course I have asked him about it but he said for what he knows so far.. 'NO'

he said he was the one who worked on the red RX8 which was on the motorshow last year. but i didn't ask if the motorshow one is the one of the 2 turbo 8 they r having now..

btw, interesting that he says the turbos on both car are installed in the base/bottom of the engine bay not on the top.. so it will be hard to notice..

Allan Horsley, at Mazda Australia, has been championing an 'SP' version of the 8, and these are the mules. As to whether it will come to market But we are hoping to have at least one of them at Wakefield for the Nats, plus some other FI development cars

Well I hope Mazda gets its **** together and brings an SP to market.

They got well and truly gazumped with a turbo version of the MX5. Hopefully they learnt from that.

I also hope that any SP version has a marked increase in power over the naturally aspirated renesis. Even when they finally got around to doing an SP in the MX5, it was only a pale imitation of the previously released aftermarket turbo car.

Personally, I hope they come up with something akin to that white development car that the factory engineers came up with (the article for which was raised again in a recent thread) - as in completely revised suspension, brakes, etc instead of just a mild power increase. Not only would that give us a far more desirable range topper with the complete package, it would also put it into another price bracket entirely, thus protecting the resale of our cars.

The problem is there's an aweful lot of ADRs to be complied with if the 'factory' wants to bring out a ltd edition FI version. But at least there are some keen people at MA, who persist.

I was the first person to trial the unit HERE IN AUSTRALIA, however with all the (FLASHES) upgrades on the ECU BY MAZDA ,I HELD BACK FOR A WHILE BUT NOW WITH THE HELP OFJeff(MAZDAMANIAC )I HAVE FINALLY GOT A MAP THAT is both powerfull and smooth .

Yes the CZ unit takes this car to the level it should have been in the first place , my butt dyno tells me at least an extra 20- 25 hp .

When changing gears the revs dont seem to drop anywhere near as much as before keeping the car right in the sweet spot

I have a spare CZ unit which i may sell if anyone is interested PM me , i will bring it to Wakefield so you guys who may be interested can try it out and see the difference for yourselfs .
