Took my car in last week because of water getting in the Rear Passenger Light Housing. It was bad as you can see(Sorry for the bad pic, I used my cell phone).

While I took it in and was waiting for about 5-10 mins the Manager came up to me and said it was going to be an all day project because of some recalls on the car.

While talking to him I mentioned I wouldn't want to come back in a couple months if the left tail light started getting water in it. He said "no problem" and just went ahead and told me they'll replace both lights. I didn't expect that at all, especially because there wasn't one drop of water in the left tail light.

Came back later on that day. They replaced both lights, reprogrammed the PCM, changed the spark plugs, test the Catalytic Convertor(passed), and performed other various tests(View Reports).

Hey Cas, glad you got a headache out of of the way. Hopefully you won't have to deal with that again. I always seem to get condensation on the inside lens of the tailights after I wash my car. I think it is because of the cold water and the warm weather. Do you guys have the same thing happen?

Never happened to me.

they look great. That condensation makes it look like cheap aftermarkets gone wrong (even though stock)

Believe me, I'm glad as well. I was really satisfied with the Dealership. Good thing I switched from the Darcars in Silver Spring(Where I bought the car) and went to Ourisman in Laurel. They're great there! I'd suggest anyone around my area to go there.

I mean they have employees that walk around asking each customer if they need anything(coffee, want to watch TV, something to eat). It was just a great experience! :icon_tup:

It is a bit stylized though. :)

Glad mine hasn't had water problems in the taillights. Mold would be growing in there soon with that much condensation.

Be lucky you haven't had as many replacements as I have. so far I have gone through 12 sets of taillights b/c of the water condensation in the lights. I never had a problem with my dealership >>Falkner mazda here in philly.<< I know almost everyone up here with a rx8 has had this problem and when talking to the mech. at mazda they told me they believe that there was a bad batch of lights out of the factory b/c they see this problem alot.
I wish you all the best and don't be afraid to see the dealer... this isn't a new problem with the 8's

Holy shit. His dealership actually takes the time to measure and write out the remaining tread depth on the tire check. The only thing that the lazy bastards at the dealerships down here ever do is put check marks in all of the green boxes straight down the line. And when I say all the boxes, they even make a green check mark in the "automatic fluid control" which is funny because my car is manual. Makes me wonder if they actually perform half of the full circle service like they claim to do. Perhaps they just don't give a shit.
And I'm not talking about out any one particular dealership down here...ALL OF THEM have done this.

Of course, it doesn't matter anyway, because "RX-8s don't count" anymore. :icon_no2:

I love the look of brand new clean taillights. I have a silver and right after I got new ones they looked amazing, compared to the water/pollen filled old ones.

Looks like you should rotate your tires... More tread in front that the back...

Also, I was wondering if your car is any quicker now? You've got Type "R" printed three times on your repair sheet... That's good for at least 15 hp, right?!? Hhahahhahah...

Okay, that was a bit of a stretch. Anyways, your taillights sure are purdy now!
