Some of you bought the car without even driving one, now a lot of you are complaining about being misled by Mazda. You are asking now is the car worth what you paid? The answer is NO! Why would anyone want to give a dealership $2000.00 or more profit on the sale of one car. Because of you people I will have to wait until next spring and try again to buy the car I drove and liked. I went to three different dealers and got the same sorry line "well you know the consumer dictates the price of the car" So thank you all for being so willing to empty your pockets. I waited just as long as you all did, and I'm not going to die if I wait a little longer. When I do buy I will know what I'm getting and pay less. If the price is still non-negotable then I will have to swallow my pride and buy choice number two.

Dream on Abe M... this car will not be affected one dollar by the HP issue. Yes, we bought it BEFORE we ever drove it but it was the right choice because of the rarity of it, at least in Canada.

Now you better get ready to drive your number 2 choice and whatever that is it certainly won't be as great as the RX-8 is.

I'm afraid you've got both misplaced anger and a lack of understanding regarding the laws of supply and demand. You hate us because we were more willing than you to pay market price for a highly anticipated new product? That's laughable.

Mazda is doing a great job by giving those who want to return the car a chance. The MSRP I paid, plus the estimated $2000.00 for the debit card and service is well worth the price.

Plus I LOVE seeing 350 Z drivers just stare and wonder "I bought a 350Z, paid more money and I still don't have a back seat!"

I know that you can find this car under MSRP. I filled out the paperwork for mine today and am buying it under MSRP. I spoke w/ a guy yesterday who bought one from a different dealership in SATX for $1k under MSRP as well... Check out some dealers outside of major cities.

As for my second choice, I can deal with a 6, definitely not as nice a car but it is more practical for, you know us older folks!!!

I had my 350z for 8 months now and not 1 time I needed to put a 3rd or 4th person on my car nor had I wished I could. I have friends for this reason with 4-5 seaters. 350z owners bought a 2 seater for a reason. Its a perfect excuse not to have to drive into town r be a bus for your friends. Also I bet Corvette drivers are drooling for a back seat also :o

1) I have a red RX8. An the red looks better then and 350Z red.

2) 350Z drivers don't need a back seat because they have no friends.

3) My car still gets more looks then a 350Z.

4) I paid less for my car and got more stuff.

BTW how can you guage how many looks a car gets? How would you know if an rx-8 gets more looks then a 350z? I doubt you can or have any idea. I can probably say a loaded rx-8 may get more looks then a silver or white (very bland colors IMO) 350z with no wing and the smaller rims but my color, and most of the other 350z colors are eye magnets expecially coupled with the 18's or the track brembos.. Its pretty crazy the looks and expressions I had experenced so far in my car..

Blue 350Z, you're on an RX-8 forum. Why are you even trying to argue here? This is the same thing that would happen if an 8 owner started trolling on a Z board. All you're going to do is get into an argument you aren't going to win. If people here WANTED a Z, they would have BOUGHT one. Obviously, they did not. There are valid reasons to buy both- but we chose the reasons to buy an 8.

I've posted this elsewhere before, but I'll repeat it.

When I first started looking at cars to buy, I looked at the RX8, 350Z/G35, Thunderbird, 330ci, CTS, TT, Corvette. Extensively test drove all of them.

I preferred the RX8 and bought it.

THE LETTER comes out on the RX8. Knowing that I had an opportunity to re-evaluate my choice with no penalty, I extensively redrove the 350Z and the G35. Getting a 2nd chance, not only did my choice not change, I was even more secure in my decision on buying (and keeping) the RX8. There isn't a bumpers width of performance difference 0-60 and less than 1/2 a car legnth in the 1/4 between the RX8 and the Z/G twins. In other words, not enough to mean a "hill of beans".

Other reasons in choosing the RX8 over the Z/G:

-high quality interior of the RX8. All the controls have a high quality, silky precision feel. ergonomics are outstanding. interior is just plain better looking than the Z/G. RX8 guages are gorgeous (not the orange glow affair that the Z/G is).

-switch gear in the G/Z were heavier to operate. It kind of reminded me of the clutch/shifter in the last generation of the Z28. RX8 clutch/shifter is light and accurate and precise.

-handling of the Z/G compared to the RX8....Z/G handle well, but the RX8 is just plain handles better and is easier to handle at higher velocities.

-RX8 rotary is among the best sounding power plants I've come across. You can tell the engine sounds in the Z/G (rather corse) are coming from a large V6 (not melodious like the BMW 3 series engines and nowhere near the precise mechanical sounds that come from the RX8).

-features/price comparison goes hands down to the RX8. Mine cost $33K....that includes NAV, side air curtains, To get the same amenities in the Z/G would have cost me $3k-$4k more.

While styling is subjective, I can attest that driving/parking the RX8 elicits more attention than the Z. You can tell the 350Z evolved from the 300ZX, which IMHO, was the wrose looking Z ever produced (I much prefer the 2XXZ series style). The G is probably 2nd at eliciting on-lookers when compared to the RX8.

Went through the evaluation twice. RX8 won both times.

Sometimes it comes down to price and what you want.

I like my RX8, I am happy with my RX8, and I will get beat in a race with my RX8.

So what? Racing on the street gets old (and dangerous). Racing on the track is for those who have modified their cars.

It is quite interesting how this thread went from someone hating the RX8 to all of us RX8 owners hating (maybe too strong of a word here) the 350Z.

If this guy was so happy with his 350Z, he would be on that website.

Why is being able to "smoke" important? Is that the measure of a car? Maybe back in high school, but there are so many other important points about a car and stop-light racing isn't one of them, to me anyway.
