View Full Version : TO: attempted suicide!?!?!?
snizzle 09-27-2006, 09:41 AM http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2604395
Apparently he took 35+ painkiller pills before the medics got there and then popped another 2 while they were trying to help him. I've heard they then tried to induce vomitting.
Anybody think this is for real?
Moostafa29 09-27-2006, 09:43 AM They reported on SportCenter this morning that he has been having problems with medications, some sort of allergic reactions to them. He was rushed to the hospital last night or the day before, but it wasn't from a suicide attempt.

That happened, this is a seperate incident from that. So its possible that its real. Maybe he is now relizing that everybody hates him?
tjbourgoyne 09-27-2006, 09:51 AM Let's wait until we have all the facts. All we know now is that he's an asshole.
snizzle 09-27-2006, 10:02 AM I would be shocked that someone that loves himself so much would do something like that but seeing it on official news outlets makes it a little more believable.
The truth will come out within the next few days i'm sure.
Raptor2k 09-27-2006, 10:06 AM ^yeah.
saturn 09-27-2006, 10:12 AM I would be shocked that someone that loves himself so much would do something like that but seeing it on official news outlets makes it a little more believable.

I don't think T.O. loves himself as much as people think. After he got suspended in Philly he held a press conference and looked like he was going to cry. I think he's basically got the mentality of a 10 year old and doesn't realize that you can't go around blaming everyone else anytime you're not 100% happy. He's had so many people cater to him his whole life that he equates people dealing with his BS as genuine caring.
I feel sorry for him more than anything. I just don't think he understands why so many people don't like him. I'm not saying he's not accountable, but it's unfortunate how people like that are given free passes in life growing up because they're good at something only to grow up damaged.
ZoomZoomH 09-27-2006, 10:17 AM I'm patiently waiting for his name to show up on the Obituary page in the near future...

There is no question he's an emotionally disturbed person. You could go either way with this one but I certainly feel bad for the guy.
That guy REALLY need(ed)s a father in his life. :( I feel bad for him.
snizzle 09-27-2006, 11:31 AM I've read recently that TO has a press conference coming up soon. I'm guessing to refute the suicide reports.
Razpewton 09-27-2006, 11:35 AM You'd think a persom with his connections wouldn't have any problems getting ahold of a mind-scrambler. 12 guage ought to do it.
Coleman8 09-27-2006, 11:36 AM hah hes just pissed they lost to the jaguars the first game of the season and he didnt do shit. j/k But no seriously i do feel sorry for the guy a little..
dmc27 09-27-2006, 12:02 PM The truth will come out within the next few days i'm sure.
Fat chance. The next few days will be massive spin - worthy of only the best political scandals.
Saturn is absolutely right. The guy has problems, and needs help. It's just really hard to relate to him when he's staring at "the american dream" (read $$$$$) but can't handle it at all.
dtorre 09-27-2006, 12:04 PM Ok to set you straight from someone who got the news straight from Dallas...while being in Dallas =P......TO did try to commit suicide...he popped 35 pills ((5 were allready taken earlier in the week to relieve pain in his broken hand)) he didn't try and pop 2 pills when the para's came...his gf saw him take the last two pills and realized what he was doing so she called 911...
the official police report came out this morning in town, however his condition has yet to be confirmed allthough if he was gonna die he probally would have by now. They did charcoal the SOB.....
All in all he tried to commit suicide ((its been confirmed)), GF ((or lover)) saved him....he is now in the hospital....taa daa
ZoomZoomH 09-27-2006, 12:11 PM hospital probably hooked him up on some nice painkiller too
dmc27 09-27-2006, 12:14 PM nah, just lots and lots of stomach meds.
sunilseru 09-27-2006, 12:17 PM I feel very sorry for him. Hope he gets some good help and gets his life back on track.
Winfree 09-27-2006, 12:18 PM That guy REALLY need(ed)s a father in his life. :( I feel bad for him.
You can have physical grace and style, be famous, rich, have the interest and voice of the people -
but without family, the poverty of your life can eat you from the inside out.
So every body hates him - well, that's why people pay to watch - a villian is just as necessary to the plot as the hero -
Let's hope he gets well so he can play his role again!
rotarygod 09-27-2006, 12:20 PM Apparently it's true that money can't buy happiness.
dtorre 09-27-2006, 12:24 PM no it can...he just saw A-Rod was an even bigger dick than him ((and paid better))...unwilling to acept it he tried to off himself
Chrisbert 09-27-2006, 12:27 PM BFD! There are depressed people all over this nation who either contemplate or try suicide each day. But, since they are not celebrities nobody really cares. I'm about tired of hearing of these multi-million dollar assholes problems.
Jedi54 09-27-2006, 12:33 PM Apparently it's true that money can't buy happiness.
He's obviously shopping at the wrong places... :mdrmed:
Should be interesting to follow this story throughout the day.
Hornet 09-27-2006, 12:34 PM If this was some type of accident I hope he gets better! If he tried to kill himself I hope he seeks help!
rotarygod 09-27-2006, 12:50 PM He's obviously shopping at the wrong places... :mdrmed:
Just go out and buy some new friends and new toys and all would be well again.
I'd love to have millions of dollars to throw away at my will. That part I'm OK with. The hardest part of being well known is being well known. The people constantly following you around must suck and the media is always looking for a way to destory your image. Public opinion is all based on the media. If the media likes you, the public will too. That would be the hard part and I'm sure that would get very frustrating.
dtorre 09-27-2006, 12:54 PM Man not even TO likes TO
NoTears316 09-27-2006, 12:55 PM He's just an attention whore. If he really wanted to kill himself, he would have.
snizzle 09-27-2006, 12:58 PM Press conference @approx 3pm. They are saying he will contend that it was not a suicide attempt as I previously thought.
youpey 09-27-2006, 01:21 PM this guy is such a disaster
dmc27 09-27-2006, 01:25 PM Just heard that the pain med rx was filled on the 18th w/40 pills. Hmmm. Vic/Perc @ 4 a day starting last Monday = 36 pills through yesterday, hence a nearly empty pill vial. And that's not even a max dose for an adult. This one should be real interesting.
snizzle 09-27-2006, 01:28 PM Why is he just now having this "reaction" to the medication then if he's been steady taking it? Something is seriously wrong w/this whole thing.
dmc27 09-27-2006, 01:34 PM So - the police report (which I don't imagine should be in media hands) apparently states that TO said he finished the prescription yesterday. It also states that only 5 pills had been taken previous to last night. Then TO was asked if he "was trying to hurt" himself & he said yes. But let's be honest - who gets a script for pain meds and doesn't tke any? Something smells fishy, and Dominion's car is nowhere close to me.
BunnyGirl 09-27-2006, 01:57 PM Something smells fishy, and Dominion's car is nowhere close to me.
captain mercury 09-27-2006, 02:06 PM He's just an attention whore. If he really wanted to kill himself, he would have.
i feel the same way. unless it was a purely spontaneous decision (ie taking pills, i hate myself, lets take them all), any millionaire could get the necessary tools anytime. doesnt he have a balcony??? rooftop??? 40th floor hotel suite?
captain mercury 09-27-2006, 02:07 PM perhaps it wasnt prescription at all, or even legal under any circumstances for that matter. heroin, crack, i dunno. prescription might be a lie
StewC625 09-27-2006, 02:09 PM I WIN MY BET! I bet my son $20.00 that T.O. would still be a wreck at Dallas. He bet not - that Parcells, Jones and Co. would straighten him out. HA - he owes me $20!
Thanks T.O.!
Raptor2k 09-27-2006, 02:14 PM Season's not over

Jedi54 09-27-2006, 02:21 PM Friend of mine wanted T.O. to go play for his Broncos....haha, wonder what he's thinking today...
(sent him an email, no repsonse....gee, not surprised)

Illegal gambling, eh? What kind of values are you teaching your son? :cwm27:
Hornet 09-27-2006, 02:35 PM Strange thought...I see people saying he's an attention whore and I am assuming that people think that is why this situation arose. At this time he doesn't need to do anything this extreme to get attention! If he breathes on a microphone he has attention so IMHO that has little to nothing to do with this particular situation!
Dinhx8 09-27-2006, 02:47 PM Strange thought...I see people saying he's an attention whore and I am assuming that people think that is why this situation arose. TO is as big a deal as we, and the media make him. Love him or hate him, but starting a thread about him gives him attention too. Point being- everyone freaks out about how he is EVERYWHERE and this big attention whore, but we're only adding to the hype.
He's been the same guy now for nearly 5 years since he started really doing well in San Fran. yet everyone 'freaks' out and says he's a "distraction". Get used to his personality people, he's the same guy he's always been, and he's as big a deal as you make him.
He's done well on every team he's played for. This season is just starting so the verdict on his career in Dallas is still out- though its no joking he's off to a rough start. But to say he'll just be horrible in Dallas is ignoring his past (football) history.
Thats why the whole thing with Mcnabb annoyed me. Mcnabb got so annoyed with To...what did he expect? McNabb should have just dealt with it and not taking it so personally- I mean, how serious can you take a guy like TO anyways?
This is just my opinion, and I'm not defending TO...but to start a thread about him, then chastising him for being an attention whore is kind of weird to me. We're the ones who love to discuss him, not 'him'.
StewyRX8 09-27-2006, 02:48 PM Just held a press conference denying the whole thing. His and his publisist's account are the opposite of the Dallas PDs. Weird....
dmc27 09-27-2006, 03:09 PM ^ Seriously. At this point they would all be better off if they just sent TO to a shrink and had him officially diagnosed. He's got to be bi-polar or something. Get him on some meds and get over it.
snizzle 09-27-2006, 03:11 PM So somebody is lying..... take your pick.
Feras 09-27-2006, 03:12 PM TO would NEVER LIE! would he? oh wait im from philadelphia thats right, yah TO is a lying SOB.
SlayerRX8 09-27-2006, 03:21 PM TO is lying. Isn't it a little convenient that his publicist just happened to be the only one with him while he overdoses on pain pills? He WAS treated for drug overdose at the hospital.
Funny how the police report was all blacked out, and the parts blacked out included things like how he said he wanted to hurt himself, etc.
That press conference was a load of crap. I'll go by what the police say...maybe it'll be like the Mel Gibson thing where the police first report nothing out of the ordinary happened, then go back on that and show us just how f***ed up TO is.
I'm so happy he's ruining the Cowboys...and if he killed himself, he would be made into a martyr. He just needs to be exposed for the coward he is, and end his career.
captain mercury 09-27-2006, 03:34 PM i hate the cowboys.
TO fits in so well there its ridiculous.
i hope he continues to try to commit suicide and wastes the cowboys money because he's in the hospital so often. i dont want him to die, just to waste the cowboys money like he did the eagles.
Dinhx8 09-27-2006, 03:35 PM I'm so happy he's ruining the Cowboys
? how so? :)
he almost helped them comeback in week 1 and the boys didnt even need him to beat the skins last week. in 1.5 games basically he has nearly 100 yards receiving, and a TD.
im not bashing you, nor defending TO, just keeping things in perspective.
NoTears316 09-27-2006, 04:53 PM ? how so? :)

To put it in better perspective. Dallas has had 3 games in which TO has had 9 receptions for 99 yards... and he's being paid $25 million. Bust.
otherside 09-27-2006, 05:01 PM Yes, T.O. is an ass, but to wish him dead is ridiculous. If we wished every a-hole would commit suicide we would be really lonely. Anyway, I expect to hear about Art Shell's attempted siucide any day now.....

c'mon Tears, Dallas has had 2 games, not 3.. you're normally better with stats.
He has played in 1 game and a few snaps of the other with a broken hand. In that one game he scored a critical TD with a pretty impressive catch.
There are 14 games left, and every team he has been on he's done well.
Not saying he will, but saying 'he's destroying the cowboys' is a bit much at this juncture.
He might be destroying his image, thats about it.
otherside 09-27-2006, 05:10 PM I dont think John Madden could even help the Raiders......But it might be worth a try!
NoTears316 09-27-2006, 05:11 PM c'mon Tears, Dallas has had 2 games, not 3.. you're normally better with stats.

Hornet 09-27-2006, 08:15 PM The way some of you talk about TO it's like he raped your mothers and sisters in a sandwich then butt raped your dad and for good measure he then set your dog on fire! He also pissed on your dog with the gasoline that inhabits his bladder because he is the devil himself! Get serious he has no real affect on any of your lives or mine and in all reality in no sense does he deserve death because he seems to be an a**hole! Very much like Otherside said...basically there wouldn't be very many of us in this world if being an a**hole warranted death! People from every walk of life would be wiped out! TO is lying...I don't know how many of you have ever had to take Hydrocodone (Vicodin) but it made me pretty damn loopy! A few weeks ago when I was on it if you were to ask anybody who saw me while I was on it I was stranger than usual. I honestly felt disconnected from the world! Could he have said something? Possibly! Did he actually mean it? Who knows? Nothing is cut and dry about this and for the most part possibly all of us are on the outside looking in and are probably full of crap (notice I said us to include myself)! BTW...as far as football goes I can't stand the Cowboys as a franchise and hope they don't win another championship as long as I live but I don't wish the player or staff any pain or suffering (that goes for the Patriots as well)!
StewyRX8 09-27-2006, 09:19 PM Injury Rerport this week- Terrell Owens (probable) - overdose

:FIREdevil
Winfree 09-28-2006, 09:35 AM I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt because I have seen stuff like this before - some guy has prescription meds, he feels better so he puts them on the shelf, he starts feeling like he needs them, and then he makes up for lost time and takes them all, or he's at the end of a bottle of pills and he 'finishes them off!". Then he ends up in the tox clinic getting their stomach pumped and their bowels reamed out!
One of about 7 things that caused 'desert storm' syndrome was guys taking too many antidote pills in the same day, because they got worried; same thing with malaria pills - you would start the troops on them a week before before they left home, and some idiot child would forget his and then try and take them all at once -
For a big guy, who is trying to fight pain - I can see one of these players looking at those little pills in his base-ball glove sized hand and saying "Little little pill, look so small, me big man, take two but still hurt, need plenty more pills, got big pain - OOh now belly hurt, call friends - maybe take one more pill to kill belly pain!!" .
I don't know what TOs prescription was but I bet is was for the smaller sized pills.
For some of the bigger brain dead troops I have suggested that the medication be made into a giant jaw breaker sized pill that has to be sucked slowly, so we could get the dosage delivered properly!
Raptor2k 09-28-2006, 09:14 PM You're a Kobe and TO supporter!?!!??!! Why am I not shocked??? :mdrmed:

Besides everyone talking about the lack of veterans...shall I pull out a quote from Dirk Nowitzki this summer, a player who knows international ball?
And of course it wasn't just the lack of Kobe, I knew you would of had that implication . Melo was really impressive, but Team D was horrible, and it seemed to be lacking shooters again (Chauncey). But I guess they had to get used to the new rules (particulary, LeBron and Wade not getting their ref bail outs, since FIBA allows more physical play), smaller ball, etc.
BOT: I wonder how many of Owens' books got sold, lol

I don't really care what Dirk thinks to be honest. Keep the quote.
You're right that TeamUSA has multiple issues to deal with before they get the gold again. I thought as the typical fanboi that you were implying that they lost only because of Kobe's absense. They lost because there was no Gilbert, haha. 3pt shooting % was simply awful.
It's an adjustment for sure but I think TeamUSA can still be at the top again.
Raptor2k 09-29-2006, 10:05 AM I mentioned Dirk, one of the best in the game, rather than the ESPN bullshitters because I can't handle their hypocrisy, i.e Skip Bayless. Grosssss.
snizzle 09-29-2006, 10:31 AM Yeah, they've got some idiots there for sure.
dreamfrog 09-29-2006, 11:04 AM I don't know a whole lot about TO.
But, wasn't he busted some time in the past for some kind of drug habit?
If that is the case, then the pain meds don't affect him they way they would a normal guy of his stature, i.e. another football player who has not previously had a dependency problem.
Once you have had a dependency to a drug, then your body responds differently.
I can see him needing a stronger dosage other than what was prescribed for him to kill his pain. And, I only say this because I know a guy who weighs less than 160 lbs who required 4x the dosage when he went into surgery to knock his butt out, because he has had such a long standing addiction.
And, when it hit him, it hit him quick.
So, the meds aren't working, he takes three more. Waits 20 minutes, then after 20 minutes, he's so doped up, he thinks it was three hours ago that he took those four. So, he takes four more, etc. It just snowballs from there.
I also don't think he was trying to commit suicide...he was probably rambling. In the past, when I was doped up (surgery, pain meds), it was amazing what would come out of my mouth. It's just easier to say "yes" than it is to deny anything when you are that high.
As I said, I don't know anything about the guy. So, not even sure if he has had a drug problem in the past, but I think he did....
And, if suicide was the goal, as others have said, there are easier, quicker ways to do it.
DARKMAZ8 09-29-2006, 11:11 AM If he was smart, he would of washed all those pills down with a 40 of vodka.....what a dummy.....can't even kill himself...lol
Winfree 09-29-2006, 11:36 AM Heck, if he wanted to kill himself he could have done something spectacular and sold tickets!
A friend of ours kept talking about suicide so we decided to assist him - we figured a bull fight would work, so we all sat around with him, working out who would sell tickets, and where we could borrow a bull, and where we could get the costumes, and how much the insurance benefits would cover - and then he got all upset and said we were trying to capitalize on his death - and we agreed - and he refused to commit suicide for us! Thanked us later for saving his life.... :rollingla
Hornet 09-29-2006, 11:45 PM um, the Patriots are great & Hornet's favorite team sucks. Maybe yours, too - unless the Viking in your handle means you're a Minn. fan. woo-hoo!!

LOL...that's fair! :)
I'm just happy that everyone and their mother predicted my team to be 4-12 for the season and they are 2-1 right now! I guess you can figure out who they are by that clue and my dislike of the Pats!
Hornet 09-29-2006, 11:55 PM I mentioned Dirk, one of the best in the game, rather than the ESPN bullshitters because I can't handle their hypocrisy, i.e Skip Bayless. Grosssss.
That's amazing...there are some times when I go to work and we have ESPN on in the morning before anybody comes in and EVERYBODY that is there agrees that this guy is the worst sports analyst/columnist in all of media! Woody Paige has some valid points but Skip Bayless seems to have a crane hooked up to pull the most crap out of his a**! Woody says something that is proven and substantiated and Skip disagrees! Skip also seems to agree with death threats being sent to people over sporting events from what I gathered from one discussion!
dmc27 10-02-2006, 08:39 AM So TO plays, the media craze takes a break, and now what? Will it just be dropped, or beat to death? I f8cking hate the media. Almost as much as I hate the Jets. Way to choke. 4-12 is still possible . . .

LOL...wow it looks like something about the Jets really hurts your feelings! Thanks for Mangini...it's looking like in due time that's going to be a great move as far as the coaching goes (I mean, it doesn't look so bad now with him there)! Possible for them to go 4-12? Yes! Likely? No! Way to choke...lol...call it what you want but the way everybody would have you believe this game should have never been this close just like the Pats should have never had to squeeze one by the Jets in week 2 either! That was almost the ultimate choke for an "elite" team! In both cases it looked more like the Jets just ran out of time! Wow...imagine how butt hurt you would be if the Jets actually had a reliable option running the ball right now...LOL! Just be happy with the present because it won't be long before there is some real competition for the Pats in the division! Better yet...cry a little as you watch a team getting closer and your team refuses to pay MVPs...LOL!
:rollingla
Let me guess...your a Red Sox fan too! LOL...I can't take this! My stomach hurts!

dmc27 10-03-2006, 03:54 PM ppffff - baseball. Who cares? There's nothing worse than a redsox fan - bunch of whiny, fairweather chumps. The last Sox game I went to was v. the yankees and I almost got into a fight - with several sox fans b/c they were way to quiet for the situation.
And I'm a real football fan - I already know the Jets will be trouble in the division. So will the Bills. But with the whooping my pats put on the Bengals this weekend it will take more than either team has right now. I'd like to see how the jets do w/o all the patriot imports. BTW - what the hell are you guys feeding Mangini down there? He looks like an engourged tick!

I can't take away from the win the Pats got over the Bengals but the Bengals are having some problems! How many imports do you think the Jets have from the Pats? They only have about 5 imports on the staff of 20 and some of them are kind of loosely imports...meaning they were with the Pats for very short stints some time ago or even on an internship that was not the same as the capacity they hold with the Jets. 7 of 11 offensive starters and 8 of 11 defensive starters for the Jets were actually drafted by the Jets and none of the others that I could find have ever played for the Pats! Curtis Martin might be the only major piece as far as players and he has not set foot on the field this year! What imports are you refering to? That's pretty funny what you said about Mangini...I guess they must have wined and dined him too much in trying to hire him...maybe more of the dined part!
btw...don't take my comments as not respecting what the Pats have accomplished that's not the case. They have been doing a great job and obviously have influenced the way most of the teams in the NFL build their teams and play the game!
dmc27 10-04-2006, 08:17 AM haha. The imports comment really isn't fair anyway, since free agency makes that claim possible for just about any team. Just trying to cause trouble. lol.
The Bengals D is not great, but their O is sick. Watching the Pats dominate on both sides of the ball was pretty nice. Especially since Brady still hasn't played well and O & D looked like shit vs. the Broncos.
Honestly - I was rooting for the Jets to beat Indy. I am so sick of the "darling of the NFL" status that Peyton gets. How the f8ck does the entire Manning clan get so much press despite zero championships between them??!! Gawddammit - there's only like 2 playoff wins between all 3 of 'em. But I digress . . .

the media really wants a white quarterback to succeed (did i say that out loud oops ;) )
Winfree 10-04-2006, 10:13 AM Bunch of Raider's fans around here, but they say they have the "curse of the dead" on them because when people voted to put in the stadium, it turned out a lot of the votes for it were made by dead people - that is, people who could not have voted because they had died years before! Some one was rigging the ballet box.... That's why the Raiders will get right there to the top and then lose some important game - Just the same it's fun to see them play, and there are so really wierd homemade fan memorials to them scattered around Oakland - it's one of those fun things to drive around and discover...

MazdaspeedFeras = Rush Limbaugh?? lol.
I'm completely biased - b/c in addition to being a Pats fan, I'm also a Michigan fan - but isn't it obvious that Brady is the best QB in the league? No stud recievers, and until we got Dillon, no stud RBs, but still 3 rings. WTF!! How is there any question when the best QB conversation starts?

Maybe no stud players, but he had an entire team of hardworking athletes with an amazing X's and O's coach. There's no reason to have a "best QB conversation" anyway, but let's see how Brady does this year before crowning him the king of all that is.

I understand the dislike of the attention that Peyton Manning gets but to say he hasn't done "anything" to deserve it is absolutely false! True he hasn't won it all yet but he has some amazing accomplishments thus far. Manning has thrown for 4500+ yds and 49 TDs in a single season. How many other QBs, Hall of Fame or otherwise, can claim that? For comparison-sake Manning has 6 seasons that he has thrown for 4000+ yds...Favre has 4...and Brady has 1. Brady has won and as far as I am concerned he was and is getting his attention just as much as any other great QB.
I know you probably still don't think much of him but I'm not making this up!
snizzle 10-05-2006, 07:02 AM McNabb and TO in the news together again. Doesn't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?
dmc27 10-05-2006, 08:30 AM ^ What is McNabb in the news for?
And it seems awfully quiet on the TO front, no? I work 2 16 hour days Tues & Wed, so I miss alot - but nothing about either on the sports radio show during the day.
. . .but to say he hasn't done "anything" to deserve it is absolutely false!
I didn't. Just no championships. Don't mind my rants. Peyton can have the face time; the Pats & Brady will just have to settle for a fist full of rings . . .
dmc27 10-05-2006, 08:48 AM duh . . . :dunce: right - they just happen to be playing each other.
/goes for more coffee/
snizzle 10-05-2006, 09:30 AM Yeah, and the media has got them talking about eachother of course. Something about McNabb sending TO a txt when he heard about the "suicide" attempt and TO says he never got it, blah blah
Raptor2k 10-05-2006, 09:35 AM
At least the NFL doesn't really capitilize on hyped BS like McNabb/TO for the sake of ratings, unlike another league I know.
