Selling because originally I was using the MM 18" rims and replaced this set of 18", but feel that the rims are still not big enough. If can offload this set of rims, will be going for 20". Price for 4pcs/set (NOT EVEN WITH SLIGHT SCRACHES and with proof of receipt bought on 31/8/07) without tyres will be $1200/=. Exchange of original rims welcome too. I'm using the super dolphin. Damn loud but syiok hearing when 7k-9.5k rpm. The sound very 'packed'. Initially wanna exchange but now need to think twice :D

Let me state now that this unit is used and I myself bought it as part of a kit from the states. The interceptor-X is the in-house brand by Mazsport and is essentially a Microtech ECU that is modified specifically for the RX8. For the uninitiated, a Microtech is a half-standalone ECU and is a compromise between a piggyback ECU like the E-Manage Ultimate and a full standalone ECU like the Motech. As I understand it, the piggyback ECU is primarily there to force your car's stock ECU into following a different set of rules when it comes to Air Fuel Ratio, Ignition timing, etc in an attempt to make more power from your car. The main drawback here is that it is still bound by the parameters set by your stock ECU - hence it limits how far you can push your car. You can argue that to push your car any further than that stock parameters, a lot of work strengthening the engine is required anyway...but in the same logic - the stock parameters might be very conservative anyway to begin with as manufacturers dont want us pushing the car more than those 'safety margins' so there are less warranty claims. Believe what you want but as someone who does not give a shit about warranty anyway (mine is void ;)) - my main concern is getting the most out of my car.

A standalone ECU in comparison like the Motech allows you to override completely the engine management functions of your stock ECU. Which also means that YOU get to set the parameters as you see fit and allows you to push your car to even further lengths provided your engine can take it. As someone willing to come out to tune their car - I personally know and accept what the risks are of tuning your engine. Believe me when I say that I've been thru more than what most people will have happen to them when it comes to tuning your engine - but I'm still here and I'm still getting my ride tuned as I see fit! So a standalone might seem to be the best possible way and for some people it is...but then again the price tag will range from $6k to $10k.

The half-standalone ECU like the Microtech takes the performance aspects of your stock ECU (like AFR, Ignition timing, etc) and allows the Microtech to run it independantly of the stock ECU. This means that you will gain the benefits of being able to push your engine further than the stock parameters. This is of course again is subject to how much your engine can take. The other pointless stuff like the airconditioning, ABS, etc are left to the stock ECU to manage as they were originally intended to. So in essence you will get the best of both worlds with a half standalone. This unit is available in Singapore but is sold at $3.5k at a well known garage here. No names will be mentioned so as not to step on anyone's toes.

Let me say now that all 3 options have their good points and their bad points - it is really up to you what you want from your car. The piggyback or EMU for example would not give you any CEL's or at least not as much as say a Microtech or Motech. Some say that as it is still within the stock parameters of the car, it is smoother especially if you use your car as a daily drive. The Microtech and Motech systems will allow for more power (dyno'd charts place the RX8 based on a Greddy turbo with EMU vs an Interceptor-X Greddy Turbo kit around 50 rwhp less) but you will have to live with a CEL for example.

1st things 1st, it was my 1st post cos I got my RX-8 not too long ago still new here but I am asking my cousin who is working in States to help me buy the intake there and send it over to me. Don't worry its brand new. He already bought for me but I am asking for people to group buy cos he say can fit 3 more units into 1 jumbo box and air freight it over . That way the freight charges is shared. I put the price $950-1050 is because it depends on how many orders I have to share the freight charges. I already calculated the price in SGD950-1050.

According to MG this is 1 of the best intake for AT Rx8 liao. Anyway right now MG is out of stock and the last time I ask, the price is SGD$800 for air box and $450 for air duct, together $1250

I only trying to save some freight money. PM me if interested and pls leave your contact no too. I wait for a couple of days more, regardless of numbers I will still ask my cousin to send back to me cos I eager to install liao :)

It shd depend on the age of the item as well don't u think? If it's close to new, then the price is good cos the item is as good as new, the filter is not expendable as the paper ones like the stock intake if u know ur stuff.

i did mention in my last post that the filter can last a long time but to me it is still an expendable item. agree the price may be ok to some if it was close to new. but personally, at 80% i'll rather get it new.

i wish i can answer all your questions but I can't. generally, the paying of GST can be done via the carrier, ie Singpost or FedEx, that's provided the invoice is clearly shown on the parcel. if your parcel does not come with invoice, you will need to go down customs office at singpost eunos to show invoice and pay. you can write an email to ICA for clarifications.

the last time i did was through vpostusa and all payments and submission of invoice were done electronically.
