I was just watching Speed for the Champ Car race and saw a Mazda ad, where a guy is walking out of a warehouse of Mazda cars. When he walks out, the different cars headlights light up like projectors, and "show" clips of Mazda racecars on the walls of the shop. I'm guessing many of you have seen this ad.

There are two things that got me curious... in the hallway there is a large concept drawing of an orange car... has this car been seen before?

Also, about 2 seconds after that shot, there is a quick shot of a car with a spoiler, but the entire car is under a white cover. It seems blatant in retrospect to tease about a car in a Mazda production ad... has anyone else noticed this? What car is it?

The car half uncovered seemed to have bigger oil cooler openings that the RX8.
The car fully covered looked to be a 2 door coupe. Possibly the same car as the artwork on the wall?

That is almost the same comercial. That one is only 15 seconds. This one, I think was a minute long. It had a lot more content.

It looks to have the dimensions of a mazdaspeed RX-8 bumper. But the car itself looks like a hatch, but I could be wrong, coz the back of the car is covered

you could be right. It could be that red mazdaspeed rx8 they brought here. But i can see where you're coming from about the hatch thing but a hatch 8? come on.... that would be just wierd. haha.

I bet mazda is laughing at our faces saying "we got these guys good!"... haha

You can see a reflection off of the right seat. You can make out the silver rotor shape from the RX-8 seats on it.

The quick shot of the rotor housing is also of a 13B and not a Renesis as it has a peripheral exhaust port.

not sure if this is any better than the first.... but i was watching the race any way...

Maybe the partly covered car is a Mazdaspeed RX8. A RX8 with Mazdaspeed bodypanels. Maybe the MS front & rear strut bar. ECU flash for more HP (eg. Racing Beat). It should be about time.

it definetly looks like a hint to me. i think its a swerve as well. hint at something under the cover but then make you reconsider with the showing of the rx-8 front. but i think when its fully covered it isnt an 8. definetly a purposeful hint of "something you havent seen yet" either way. hopefully 7stock or LA auto show

Interesting...I hope mazda tells everyone at sevenstock that the mazdaspeed rx-8 is going to happen in america...I would trade my '05 in...and give my right testicle to have a MS8 :)

The car under the cover doesn't have an RX-8 shape or what I would consider the shape of a sports car. It looks more like a small sedan. Something closer to a Protege in shape.

I read the Mazdausa site, are they definately not putting a rotary in this or are they still on the fence about it?If they produced it, it would certainly be piston powered. Mazda would need a business case to develope it with a rotary. Thats why most agree, included a more expensive option for those that want it.

Well, I hope they do include and option for rotary, then i'd buy the car, but not with a piston engine in it. Just being a rotorhead.

Don't you think there is some significance for the illistration on the wall? It is the only picture in the commercial. Dosn't it resemble the shape of the car completely covered?
Sorry about the poor quality of the video. I don't have another way to do it. I tried to copy to a video dvd recorder, but the computer doesn't see the disk.
The race is being rebroadcast on Wednsday at 10 AM (EST). Maybe the commercial will be replayed. Set you VCR/DVR.

i agree with razzz, maybe we are all looking too into this... if its a real mazdaspeed rx8, that would be awesome... then i would just have to trade in my car as well... but i find it doubtful..
