View Full Version : Woo woo, BATMAN!
BlueSky 09-21-2006, 12:25 AM Bruce Wayne's car just got wayyyy cooler.

Now if only they'd make one with a proper 6-speed manual...
Raptor2k 09-21-2006, 12:33 AM Ah, to afford one some day.
Renesis_8 09-21-2006, 01:16 AM Does the engine extend below the front windshield? From the pics of the engine bay, I dont think I see enough spcae for 12 cyclinders, from where I think the engine is.

Yea, why the hell does Mercedes Benz only make their cars in automatic?!?!
They have one car that is a stick shift if I recall correctly and its a crappy sedan low powered. All of their Euro cars are manual, right?
BlueSky 09-21-2006, 01:18 AM I believe the SLR is a supercharged V8 not a V12.
nzarnow 09-21-2006, 01:21 AM MSRP:
$452,750
Engine:
AMG-built supercharged 5,439-cc 24-valve 90°V-8 engine
Net Power:
617 hp @ 6,500 rpm
Net Torque:
575 lb-ft @ 3,250 - 5,000 rpm
nzarnow 09-21-2006, 01:22 AM ^That is from the MB website for the SLR^
I don't know if they changed anything for this new one
BlueSky 09-21-2006, 01:24 AM I think they just bumped the HP to 650. Not sure on the torque.
Raptor2k 09-21-2006, 01:35 AM Half a million? Okay, nevermind
dynamho 09-21-2006, 01:40 AM That engine bay looks very cool, although there's not much of a bay (being completely filled with the engine). It looks ridiculously front heavy though.
Renesis_8 09-21-2006, 01:45 AM oops my mistake, yeah a V8 i rmb too~... hmm i still dont see enough room for 8.....

DOMINION 09-21-2006, 03:09 AM Great car. The owner of consolidatedresorts.com has one. Everyday I would look out my work window and see that or this one

If I recall right this will be that last production of the slr.
BlueSky 09-21-2006, 03:19 PM He doesn't have the 722 though, right?
Chrisbert 09-21-2006, 03:27 PM That engine bay looks very cool, although there's not much of a bay (being completely filled with the engine). It looks ridiculously front heavy though.
I think it balances out pretty evenly. The engine starts behind the front axle, and there is a lot of rear end to balance what's left.
Rootski 09-21-2006, 03:32 PM I agree wholeheartedly that the SLR is the car that should've been the batmobile.
nzarnow 09-21-2006, 03:57 PM I think they should stick to something unrealistic like the Tumbler. In a movie with Batman and all the unrealistic things going on, why should they use an actual car?
dillsrotary 09-21-2006, 06:41 PM I think they should stick to something unrealistic like the Tumbler. In a movie with Batman and all the unrealistic things going on, why should they use an actual car?
i agree with you completely, but i don't agree with the wording. i think the tumbler is more realistic (research and devolopement military vehicle) for a more realistic "believable" batman movie. If in Batman Begins say he had an slr with rockets and all that other james bond type gear i don't think it would match the theme of the movie, but having the tumbler i think really match what they were going for.
BlueSky 09-21-2006, 06:47 PM ^^What? It wouldn't match the fact that Bruce Wayne is a bajillionaire who lives in a ginormous gated mansion? Tumbler for Batman, SLR for Bruce Wayne.

Ill take a Zonda for that price

Of all superhero movies, Batman wasn't that unrealistic
Transam kid 01 09-21-2006, 07:11 PM Does anyone else not like those seats :(

that i can agree with, good point.

Ok I agree with this statement. Next movie (in preproduction I believe?!) should have good ole Bruce drive this baby around and keep the Tumbler for Batman. I still love that beast of a vehicle and was more believable with the whole jumping and shyt.
Can't wait to see how the Joker is going to look in the next flix.. whomeva is the actor (forget who is rumored gr) but he has BIG shoes to fill with following Nickleson's performance!
dillsrotary 09-21-2006, 07:27 PM looks like its heath ledger, and the title is "the dark knight" 2008
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/
Raptor2k 09-21-2006, 07:29 PM Yup.
Clavius 09-21-2006, 07:39 PM Badass...!! I like him.. hope he can play a nut case hardcore! Nickleson's Joker was just classic and fit. Hopefully Ledger will do what Bale did and read several graphic novels of Batman like "The Killing Joke" to get a real understanding of the character.
Be awsome to see a pure Black SLR 722 as Waynes car though have to state that again it would be the ultimate "Playboy Car" after all.

BaronVonBigmeat 06-24-2007, 09:14 PM Actually, if they wanted to do all-out realism, a vigilante wouldn't be driving an SLR. Too expensive, and too easy to track down the owner. But the same is true for that crazy military thing he had as well. It would be even easier to determine where it came from. A more realistic option would be an armored-up but mundane looking sedan or musclecar, on a custom tube frame. Actually even that's not realistic; you'd get stuck in traffic. The most realistic option then is probably a motorcycle. Yeah, it doesn't provide a protective shell, but he's wearing body armor anyway, and hopefully he's moving fast enough to not be an easy target.

He parked the thing under a waterfall after hitting a turbo boost -- I'm pretty sure no one is going to track him down.
Angry Bunny 06-25-2007, 01:30 AM ^^^Exactly, and, remember that's Bruce Wayne's new car, he was in the Murcielago in the first one. Batman's Tumbler will be back with the new bike.
and posted this pic of the new suit just in case everyone hasn't seen it yet.

Raptor2k 06-25-2007, 02:14 AM Yeah I posted a pic of the robotic-looking suit and it disappeared, meh.
