Here we speak english.
And the RX-8 is also a 3000 pound car, that also has 4 doors (not that that matters at all for times).
If you look at the recently released track slips (www.rotarynews.com), you'll see the rx-8 pulling mostly mid-high 14's.

Sorry about that. Im used to typing informally at the Maxima forum. Anyway, i just looked at the 1/4 mile times at rotarynews and was somewhat relieved. Im still somewhat dissapointed however as the rx8 is not superior to the max power wise. But I have to admit, the rx8 is one beautiful car.

With my interest in the 8, I don't really expect it to be more powerful than my stock 95 5-spd maxima. If you ran the two down a 1/4 track they would probably end almost nose-to-nose most of the time from what I've seen, the 8 having the capability to slightly walk by the end.
And that's fine with me. While 1/4 mile times will give some indications of how a car performs as far as acceleration, etc, the value of the hard numbers isn't that important to me, nor is beating other cars. What is important is how fun the car is to drive, how enticing even a normal drive around the city can be.
I enjoy the maxima, and while it's a treat when pushed hard, it doesn't beg to be driven hard, nor is it very tossable/nimble. I would like something a bit more exciting, with a number of other factors in mind that are worth taking into consideration when pondering a car purchase. If 1/4 mile times and raw power are pretty important to you though, I'd recommend test-driving the 8 before committing - a Z might be more up the alley of someone with those views.
