I know it's been done. (East Moon has made a great map for the members.)
But, I decided to try this method because it has tons of cools options.
It's a fairly new site call frappr.com which stands for Friend Mapper.

I started a map called RX8Club Members.
Here's the link.

Features:
You choose the exact location you want to show. (ie. state, city, or even your house)
You can add your picture.
One map for the world.
You can add locations such as cruise spots or meetings.
We can add photos to the map's photo album.
There is a live chat window that shows you who's viewing the map (if they're signed in).

So far it looks very plain, but with everyone's help we can fill it up quick.

What do you guys think of the new changes to the map?
Frappr changed to Yahoo maps instead of a Google maps.
It still has the Satellite/Hybrid views available though.

the changes don't bother me...except that North America isn't the center of the world (map that is)....

what, no Kiwi love?..that doesn't sound right. You should be able to rotate the globe and find New Zealand. It may nt have your street, but you should be able to attach a tag.

Sorry New Zealand.
The problem w/ the Yahoo maps is that if you zoom out as far as possible, it still doesn't show the whole world.
The way I have it right now, is the best position to include the most members.
It's currently centered in the middle of the desert in Niger.
With the Google map they had before, I could zoom out far enough that every country was visible.
If I move it to include New Zealand, I would cut-off the western half of North America.

It use to be the defualt, but they removed it.
I added the html code in the custom settings to put back on.

It's not like the area that's not showing is missing completely, you just have to click/drag the map over to see the rest of the countries.

Crap map - my country is not even on it !!!!I just found out that I could specify the size of the map.
I made it larger, and now it includes New Zealand.
So, now we need someone to represent that country, since it's all alone.

yep, no New Zealand....why would a program leave out a portion of the world...makes no sense to me. You can always pick a different location, maybe where you've been on holiday?

I'm at work right now, and Frappr is blocked here.
I'll look into it when I get home, but it worked fine last night.

BTW - if your screen size is too small, like 640x800, you won't see the whole map.

Alright, I just went on, and I'm not sure what problem people are seeing.
I clicked the link at the beginning of this thread, and it opened the map just fine.
I can see the whole world. The map size is set to 1000x600.
If you screen isn't set to at least 1000pixels wide, you won't see everything.
In fact, it would cut off New Zealand.
I opened it using Internet Explorer, and Firefox.
Both worked fine.
