Formerly BAR. They had an amazing season last year when they finished 2nd in the contructor's championship. This year isn't as good, but Jenson made up for it when he had his maiden win as well as Honda's first win. Fab 8 09-13-2006, 11:43 AM Has been a Ferrari fan since the days of Michele Alboreto and Gerhard Berger till now. Seems to me that Ferrari attracts supporters regardless of who is driving, while other teams depend more on their drivers' popularity. Must be a sentimental thing... And Luca (according to rumor) forcing Michael out? yiksing 09-13-2006, 11:46 AM how do you feel about Raikkonen being Michaels' heir apparent for next season? I feel nothing coz I never fancy any F1 drivers eventhough I love motorsports, the sport is declining in my opinion (just mine) where there's not much dogfight, too many regulations and mostly overtaking when pit. I like stuff like JGTC where they dump the GT300 and GT500 on the same track same time. Honestly I support Ferrari coz I love the Modena, F430 and F40. If you ask me who I hope would steal top 3 teams thunder; I would say any team using a Toyota coz I really hope Toyota would go back into making performance sportscars scene and hopefully applying F1 tech to it. Raikkonen: I hardly recognize him Schumacher: I know his nose isn't straight, that's about it. Fab 8 09-13-2006, 11:56 AM And Luca (according to rumor) forcing Michael out? There are bound to be conspiracy theories whenever something major happens to a high profile personality. A pity to see Michael retiring but then also glad to see him retiring while still top of his game. Hope he doesnt retun a couple of years later and dilute his legend like Jordan did. moRotorMotor 09-13-2006, 11:57 AM yeah, but how long did it take Button to get his first win? 7 year? I know it was a very big fluke that Jenson won in Turkey, but he does have the potential to be one of the top drivers, given a competent car. BlueRenesis82 09-13-2006, 12:00 PM I know it was a very big fluke that Jenson won in Turkey, but he does have the potential to be one of the top drivers, given a competent car. I really couldnt see Button winning anywhere else. I think he will go down as one of the most overrated drivers in F1. I just don't understand his appeal, like when Williams was fighting to have him come to the Grove, he guy wins his first race in many years, and there are teams FIGHTING over him? BlueRenesis82 09-13-2006, 12:01 PM There are bound to be conspiracy theories whenever something major happens to a high profile personality. Did you see the body language they both had after the race? Sure looked like Schumacher was looking for an excuse to not have any sort of contact with Luca. hemanrulez 09-13-2006, 12:25 PM I agree, I've always believed Jenson Button and Mark Webber were always overhyped. Webber got really lucky and did well in the his debut GP in his hometown in an average car and everyone thought he was a start and put him in a good car. The sad thing about F1 is how you drive depends on how good your car it. I had no idea Michael Schumacker retired. I remember the years when he and Ferrari just dominated the sport, I also remember the year before he came on board when Ferrari made beautiful cars but were always a mid ranked team (the years with G. Berger) I really couldnt see Button winning anywhere else. I think he will go down as one of the most overrated drivers in F1. I remember the years when he and Ferrari just dominated the sport, I also remember the year before he came on board when Ferrari made beautiful cars but were always a mid ranked team (the years with G. I think Webber is overrated too, too bad Williams has like Nico down this year with all those mechanical problems. Hopefully next year is better, as Nico is a huge raw talent with the ability and drive to win championships Tirminyl 09-13-2006, 01:48 PM Ferrari is my top team and the team I root for, while Raikkonen is my favorite driver. Finally, they are together and I can cheer one team and one driver in unison. BlueRenesis82 09-13-2006, 02:00 PM Ferrari is my top team and the team I root for, while Raikkonen is my favorite driver. Finally, they are together and I can cheer one team and one driver in unison. Ever see his water bottle? DrDiaboloco 09-13-2006, 02:06 PM My favorite F1 team disappeared years ago... Benetton. I know, I know, they kinda-sorta still exist in the form of Renault, but I never had the passion for Renault that I did for the old BF1 squad. I've always liked Fisichellla, going back to the time he was in the Benetton, but he's clearly over his head as far as fighting for championships goes (no matter who they replace Alonso with, I have little confidence that Giancarlo can decisively beat his teammate). I've something of a *bleah* feeling about Alonso... Fantastic driver, but he just doesn't "do it" for me. In recent years I've been pulling for Ferrari, but mostly because Michael was the only thing keeping some of the drivers I dislike the most from winning (Raikkonen, Montoya). As he moves on, and Raikkonen takes his place, I will be pulling for basically anyone who can beat him. You ever see this guy's post-race press conferences? I think I'd have a more interesting conversation with my couch than I could have with him. That whiny, cracking girlish-voice drives me nuts, not to mention the way he fluffs up his driving suit to display the sponsors better. Do they put stiffeners in his driving suit before he goes on camera or something?? :Eyecrazy: I've never liked McLaren. I think Alonso is going to regret his decision to move there pretty quickly... Think of how many times Kimi has been let down by the fast-but-fragile McLaren. As for the rest of them? Hmmm... Williams could be interesting with the Toyota mill next year, and I've been something of a fan of theirs since Benetton sold out ('cuz of the BMW connection), but they've basically been nowhere since '97. That's a lot of years to be let down. :) I really couldn't care less about most of the other teams, except for BMW/Sauber. If they can get their act together for real (as opposed to a single surprising showing at Monza, which I think flatters to deceive), they could really be a threat. The Japanese factory-owned teams can't seem to find anything approaching consistency even with all the yen they throw around. Then you've got the Red Bull squads and the hopeless Midlands/Spyker and Super Aguri teams. Aside from the fact that Torro Rosso has an American driver (for now), I find it hard to get remotely excited about any of the 4 teams at the back of the grid. Hanzo 09-13-2006, 04:07 PM Team: I like Renault and how Flavio manage the team. Driver: Kimi Raikkonen I guess next year I'll be a Ferrari fan since Kimi is going there. True about the 4 teams at the back of the grid, but at least Spyker can get some money in the team and attempt to improve, I really doubt that Aguri has the funding to do it. Williams has been disappointing the past couple of years, due largely to the BMW plants and the fact that they were never really able to make the alliance work. Toyota might be a good fit for the Grove. DrDiaboloco 09-13-2006, 05:01 PM Williams has been disappointing the past couple of years, due largely to the BMW plants and the fact that they were never really able to make the alliance work. Toyota might be a good fit for the Grove. I'm not so sure it's BMW's fault that Williams has been in the doldrums. True, reliability hasn't been their strong suit, but how often were the BMW's able to out-drag the front-line cars? Seems to me the engine power hasn't been the problem. Williams had already been in decline before the BMW engines showed up, not coincidentally around the time that Newey left, and having the BMW motor actually improved their fortunes. At least they were able to actually win races with the BMW engine, something that the Toyota hasn't proven to be able to do (yet). It's hard to tell what the problem has been with Williams the last three or four years, including this one, as BMW blames Williams and Williams blames BMW. :) I dunno if I can be a faithful fan of the Williams squad with their new motors... I prefer to wear my old 2000-vintage blue-and-white Williams-BMW hat with the RS logo on the back. :) Williams-Toyota doesn't quite have the same ring to it. Seems to me that Ferrari attracts supporters regardless of who is driving, while other teams depend more on their drivers' popularity. Must be a sentimental thing...Been a Ferrari fan since the days of Niki Lauda. But I follow the drivers more than the teams. The 80's with Lauda, Prost, Senna, Mansell & Piquet was a golden era for me. I liked all of those drivers. Alesi was another favorite, too bad he never achieved much. Schumacher is certainly good, but he never really had the kind of competition that Senna had back in his day. Tirminyl 09-13-2006, 08:45 PM Team: I like Renault and how Flavio manage the team. Driver: Kimi Raikkonen I guess next year I'll be a Ferrari fan since Kimi is going there.Agreed. Even though Ferrari is my favorite team, Renault is my second favorite. Flavio is great at what he does. He has been able to manage that team, with a low budget, pick great drivers, and brought a championship to Renault. Tirminyl 09-13-2006, 08:47 PM Ever see his water bottle?Haha, no. BlueRenesis82 09-13-2006, 10:27 PM Haha, no. there is no water in that water bottle, only vodka. Button on the other hand IS overrated but I think he's very consistent. BlueRenesis82 09-13-2006, 10:30 PM I'm not so sure it's BMW's fault that Williams has been in the doldrums.
