View Full Version : You know you're a rotary nut when...
You know those adhesive strips you peel off FedEx letter envelopes, 11 inches long, about 1/4 inch wide? Yeah, those. OK, so I was on the phone, and absently folding this strip and what do you know, I'd folded it into a triangular rotor shape just like the one in the RX-8 complete with the slightly curved sides. Perhaps this is how dear Mr. Wankel came up with his idea? Yes, he has FedEx to thank too ;)
Anyone else suffering from Wankel Rotor Syndrome care to share examples of their subconscious obsessing with all things rotary?
In the meantime, let me spin eliptically around on my office chair!
XDEEDUBBX 08-28-2003, 06:46 PM you sure none of the paper you were handling had any acid in it?dam crakky!

when making car noises you don't do the traditional 'brrmmm' rumbling sound but rather that unique whirring scream of a rotary engine in full flight.
when you start wondering how light your lawnmower would be if it ran with a rotary engine... and your golf cart, and that 747 you're flying in.
Attend the sort of meetings I have to endure regularly and well, you've got to use that wasted imagination somehow...I mean let's be real, I could be out driving for dog's sake! Gotta get your priorities straight. Damn skippy you do!
You're a rotary nut when...
... you're in the middle of class actually daydreaming of 2 separate rotary engines, 1 front, 1 in the back, with a total displacement of 1.8L and a 4WD setup with a carbon fiber shaft would make an awesome performing car.
Not too get off topic, but when I told my father in law that I was getting the RX8 he said he had a rotary lawnmower. He looked around for the engine but couldn't find it :(
Damn cool though!
Aratinga 08-28-2003, 08:18 PM Rex sounds totally normal to me.
You know you're a rotary nut when...
... you, your then-husband, and your fellow rotorhead buddy make a @#$%^& mess of your garage dissecting a dead RX-7 engine just so you and the buddy can each have one of these coveted objets d' art (picture it someday nicely polished and sitting on my mantel):

Believe it or not, this, too, has already been discussed in the following thread:

LOL! I was going to get mine chromed too (that's what my buddy did with his), until I found out how much it cost. I couldn't afford it then, but now... Hmmm. Maybe that's what I'll use that $500 debit card for. :D
13B 4-ever. (There's a reason I was born on the the 13th.)

________
BODY SCIENCE (http://bodyscience.ws/)
Now that's a thing of beauty!
My favorite, as in frequently visited, engine repair shop used to have dead engine parts on the counter, you know melted pistons, bent valves, cylinder heads with massive holes blown in them. Imagine, I could collect these things, chrome them up and have them all over the house! You're inspiring people!
Here's another one:
You know you're a rotary nut when...
Wife to husband: "Sweetheart what are you thinking about right now?"
Husband to wife: "Why, aluminum fender strakes for "Rex" of course..."
[oblivious husband loses 20 romance points at this point. How do I know? Ummm...]

In this case Crazy is good. I have a hook up for chromeing so it won't cost too much.
