Hey guys i just came back from the dealership right now and i am speechless. I was in the test drive and the 8 threw me away. Omg the feelign was amzing and the guy drove it fast as hell through turns and stuff. I went to go buy a used 04 or 05 8 and they said they didnt have any. So they took me to the garage with all the new 06's. They test drove an 8 and I could not believe a car can actually do what it did. Now is the price good because they offered me $23k for a brand new 06 Touring Ed. 6spd manual red. I said no because I can only pay $20k so I walked out after 2 hours of talking and driving. They seemed nice but would they be calling me back to buy the car or no? Any input is appreciated. Thnx

Yes but its noot my fault you see. I went in there for a used 04 that was listed online for $19k. And they said they will give me and 06 for $20k so im like LETS GO!!! But it ended up being $26k and i cannot afford $400 a month + gas + insurance etc.

If your that close on being able to afford the payments then you are being really dumb even considering the car. Thats why so many repo's happen. People just have to have a car and stretch the payments to the limit, then one little thing happens and they end up losing it. Wait until you can really afford a nice car, until then drive a cheapo, you will end up much better in the long run.

Yeah don't over do it on cost. I've been hanging out here for quite some time and I still don't have one. If I have to strain to make the payment, I won't enjoy it. It may be another two years, it may be next year, but my budget is about 15K. By then we'll know a little more about durability as well.

Ya but the part that pissed me off is that on the internet it showed that they had a used 04 for $19k, and when i got there they had nothign but 06's. Tommorrow im going to another dealer hopegully they one that I like. But the test drive was soooo amzing even though it was 10 mins. I loved when he turned going 30 it felt like geforce or something. Amazing car i cant wait to get it (Red 6spd manual)

Have friend teach you. In some states you can even find classes that teach how to drive a stick. I would strongly suggest you learn how before you buy one. ;)

haha thats what I thought too. Didn't know how to drive a stick either, but I did test drove the AT 8 and I liked it and when the dealer took me for a spin in the MT I was like dam gotta have one of these. Needless to say I bought that car that very night and took me 3 hours and 11 stalls to get home. Good thing it was past midnight when I picked up the car.

I didn't have trouble learning to drive stick however i didn't have anyone to teach me. So the next day I googled it and realised my mistakes and day two was much better. From then on I have just been getting better and learning to rev match.

But yea I nearly cried the first day since I was like OMG did I make a 30K mistake but day two was more rewarding. So there thas my lil story

I'd jump on a 06 touring manual for 23 if it was out the door, that's a good deal.

I was in the same boat as you. All that I did was read up about it online (the only friend with a stick was a guy with a WS6...he said no :( ) and I found several vidoes that helped also. Then, just go and take one for a test drive. Sure, the shifts werent very smooth, but just dont buy that particular car :)

I bought my first stick car and then had to learn how to drive it. Got one lesson from the dealer and a friend who came with me to pick it up, practiced on an empty street for a while, and I was able to drive it home. Took a lot of concentration and all, but after a week or two it was starting to become natural. By all means, don't let lack of stick skills stop you from buying a stick.

Bah... I bought mine 2 weeks ago and had never driven a stick. The dealer gave me a quick 10 minute lesson and I was on my way :)

Learn the stick it will be worth the time and energy and is pretty easy once you get started.

$23K for a 06 GT(I assume new) is a very good deal, best I have heard of.

Live with in your budget, if you can't afford it then move on.

Get a manual. That was a good deal.

However you can get low miles 05's for around 20K now so that's within your budget.

Thnx for all te advices and i will get manual for sure. But i went today to buy an used 04 with 23k miles on it and they were selling it for 21k with all the taxes etc. I dont know if it was worth it but the monthly payments are too much for me i can only afford 300 a month for the car payment because i have to pay for insurance and etc. So how much should a car be for me to pay 300$ a month for it. Thnx.

I got it at Evanston Mazda and there info is:

EVANSTON , IL 60202
Phone: 847-866-7600

Well this is what happened to me. I went in looking for the 04 they posted on cars.com. But they said they had no used so they took me to their garage where all the cars are stocked (liek "Gone in 60 Secs" when tehy go in the Ferrari garage). There i saw like 20 8's standing in different color and packages. He said to pick one and i chose the red ofcourse. But i said my limit is under $20k and he said "ok dont worry about that" or something. And after i chose the one (and 06 touring with 5 miles on it) we drove out and thats when i got my test drive. And after alot of stuff we discussed about the price which he told me would be less than $20k, was $26,995. He said he would take down $3k, which i thought was bs, cus i told him my price before we got there. So even though it was good deal i couldn't afford it. So after a long day i was sad and left. :sadwavey:

Don't go in with a set monthly payment.... you concentrate too much on that and the dealer could hose you on other things, like the down payment. Take a calculator and add up the whole package.

Can you explain that in more detail like calculate what, and what should i talk to the dealer about. And oh ya what did you guys put as ur down payments for your 8's???

Go to the Mazdausa website and either build an RX 8 and at the end you can estimate monthly payments or right from the start on the left it says Estimate Payments and plug in all the info. New car interst rates can be from 0-7%...depends on your credit etc. I just plug in worst case scenario. This gives you an idea of what it may cost at the price...it is an estimate. Good luck. Probably in about 3-6 months you may be able to buy an '04 for $15,000-16,000.
Good luck!undefined

oh...that's too far for me, I'm in MA...
In my area, dealers only have couple 8s in their lot, so I think they are not gonna give me 24k...
The dealer put the ad on cars.com to make you there, and force you to take a test drive, after all sit down and start the number game. that's how they sell cars and it's a procedure. So be smart and cool, don't let them warm up your heart! :spank:

Its a little to late for the heart part, but its not my fault because I told them before anything that im not gona pay more than 20k. But now i do not know which one to get a used or new. Is there a big difference between an 04 or 05 used and a brand new 06. And if yes then what are the differences?

for the 06 is gonna be more than 23k. see if you can find any new05 left in your area and that could go as low as 20k. For used, I'll go for 05, although the people have 04 always say they have no issue on their car, a 05 make me feel better and is one year younger :P

Ya that seems right, i guess what I will have to do look for a used 04 or 05, hopefully an 05. But I think i can find a used for my price range and im willign to work hard for it.
