man, can't wait to see everyone again after 3 months in DFW. I don't mean to imply the DFW folks aren't cool, they are, they really took me in while I was up there, but no place like home.
For those who witness the huge police chase fropm Freebird's here is what happened: http://www.click2houston.com/news/9794677/detail.html
There is a meeting this Saturday at 1960 and I-45. Not exactly NW side.
The location of the meetings was discussed at length on the 7club forum. Here are some highlights from my point of view. Included are also points regarding why the general club meetings are held on weekdays (something that is common in larger car clubs).
All points made are open for discussion.
This might be more than you were asking for, but it's out there for discussion.

Additionally, 30-40 people can wear out their welcome pretty fast at a resturant on a Saturday. We had to continually choose new places because most places simply didn't want half their parking lot occupied for 3-4 hours with rotorheads milling about popping hoods.
Those are a couple of the reasons that weekday meets have succeeded. They bring some of the hardcore fans (not people looking for a way to waste a Saturday, no offense).
I think weekend meets are cool, (especially regionally) but weekday meets are one of the best moves we made to increase participation. I'd love to have a northside meet, but getting people from "everywhere" up 45 North's nether-regions on a weekday is a bit of a stretch. The club meets are generally situated centrally (vs. traffic flow) to suit where most people are working opposed to where people live. Also being located centrally accomidates many cross-town commuters as well.
I have in the past asked for volunteer help in coordinating events and meetings however very few have stepped up to the plate. (Thanks to Scott, Floyd and others)
If any of you guys wants to develop something of a northside meet on a regulars basis please shoot me a email and let's see what we can work out. Maybe we can make a monthly weekend meet or something if we can get some solid plans in effect.
The "inner loop" area is fairly central if you consider the overall placement of active club members. Those who have opted to provide to the club their zip code (via the local forum) have helped shape the location of the meetings. We do have regular attendees from Katy, Clear Lake, Baytown, Freeport, Galveston and Pasadena as well as you Northside guys such as yourself from Tomball, Woodlands or Kingwood. So in those regards to that comment I do believe the meetings are "centrally placed" with good access to major highways.
Many of those who have spoke with me directly have also mentioned where they commute from/to. Now while I am no supercomputer and don't have any actual facts or figures in my head I can tell you that we have several members who work in the Medical Center, Galleria area or Downtown many of which do not live anywhere near those areas. As mentioned before the "typical" placement of the meetings are near major commuter corridors and are also positioned to take advantage of the opposite flow of traffic vs. fighting rush hour mobs.
Alternating the meeting location is a fine idea. Again, as I said if one of you guys is willing to step up and work with me that would be awesome I could use a solid contact person on the Northside to aid in setup and planning.
Remember there is no "problem", but you asked for comments or responses. I bring to the table 10 years of club history and experience. I have seen the club rise and fall over the years and can assure you that I hold it's best interests at heart.
Personally, I live and work in the South Loop area. Yes, my locale does make attending the "typical" meetings rather convienent for me most of the time. None of us should be penalized for where we live or work (everyone included). Howver, I think Winston the Wolf from Pulp Fiction said it well. "Sorry guys, move out of the sticks."
