The new intake has been giving me some problems since I put it on. I reset the ecu and when I drive it as I come to a stop the RPM's drop low and then it dies if I dont catch it in time. Any ideas about what to do to try and fix the problem would be great.

does the new intake have a screen like on the stock intake? The airflow must be smooth or the MAF will give you issues at idle. First gen K&N intakes also had this issue.

Also, your aftermarket intake is going to be sucking in hot air from the engine compartment... Not exactly ideal.

Taking into consideration that the stock airbox is black and sits right next to the engine I'm pretty sure that the air it hot that is going through the accordian hose. The aftermarket intake is the same and also sits in front of the air duct such as the airbox. So its the same but I'm moving more air than before and it sounds a hella lot better than before. I didnt think that a new intake would open it up that much. I've put plenty of intakes on cars and never heard that big of a difference in sound before. And no it doesnt have a screen like the factory and I cant add it because the screen is too big to fit in the pipe or filter.

The stock box sucks air from the bumper. Even if the tubing passes through the same area, the air is going to be cooler.

That's why people are reusing the intake box to try to isolate the filter on greddy turbo kit (which comes out of the box sucking hot engine air): http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=59523

Do whatever you want - no skin off my back.
