View Full Version : RX-8 Face-Lift Info..
Late last week I called into one of the local dealers I once worked for, had a chance to talk to the Dealer Principal...eventually got on the subject of the RX-8 and when a NEW model was due....In his words "2 Years time".......he unfortunately got called away....so I take this to be 2008 for a Major change in the RX-8....
No other groundbreaking news...thought you like to know. :)
BTW...
It is very difficult to get sales figures on the 8 now from Mazda Australia.....the DP confirmed that sales have tanked for the 8, once they were averaging 110 a month TOTAL, now they are barley selling 20 a month AUSTRALIA wide....the price of gas...and more disturbingly Mazda Australia ripping us OFF....they are just too expensive...like the RX-7 FD's demise here.
Come on.. a RX-8 'Revelation' retails for $69K AU! that's $52,500 US for an RX-8!!...
No wonder the car is not selling...it's almost as expensive as the RX-7 FD! was..
You can see the reason why Mazda Australia has just announced a RECORD NET profit last year of $50MIL... not a bad result for about 65,000 units sold......then the dealers make their retail margin (profit) on top of this...
Grizzly8 08-13-2006, 06:04 PM Most car buyers have a short period of interest (attention defecit car disorder ) :Eyecrazy: in any one car ,3 years is about my limit however i intend in keeping my car till 2008 , waiting for the FI MAZDASPEED , or doing it aftermarket .

Thats about what it cost here, us$30,000 plus a 40% tax
SiLVeRE8 08-14-2006, 04:48 PM well if theres any upgrades...hopefully it would be engine instead of looks...
Philip_SA 08-14-2006, 04:50 PM Yeah,
Gues what we are even worse in SA, here a new RX8 is R340 000,00 which reverts to about $58000 us, that was a month or so ago, our rand is a bit worse now so now only about $52000 us.
AND that is without any navigation system or so just the basic 6 speed manual.
So far our dealers also dont know, its all a guess.

I dont think so, rx-8 sales are on the floor, they need external and internal change plus a few ponies extra, and a few more opcions like a 3 rotor 2 door coupe
Philip_SA 08-15-2006, 08:14 AM Thanks, someone who thinks the same as me, a 3 rotor renesis will be perfect. They can keep the 4 door but a coupe as well.I just think it will be too expensive for me then, thats the only problem that I see.

Yeah, A 20B Renesis would be great to see, the only issues preventing it as I see it would be the extra cost, would it pass tougher emission regulations, and then there is fuel consumption issue from a marketing point of view.....you know already there is enough crap going on about the RX-8's mileage and how it effects a service "score" card!...Oh and don't forget the squeaky brakes...

all of this issues can be solved, the real issue is if it will sell, its there a market for a us$35,000 mazda.
I think there is, as long as it is a limitted production model, dont expect to sell more than 15,000 units. And make it look really agresive and unique something like the mazdaspeed8 version 2
