Mazda North America Operations (MNAO) spokesman, Robert Davis:
A version of the Mazda6 navigation system will debut on next year’s RX-8, Ward’s learns. In the Mazda6, the system will fit into a covered storage compartment that now sits empty atop the instrument panel of the ’03 car.

So it looks like its confirmed that North American will get a navigation system! I know we were all 90% sure of this anyway from the Germen pre-order sheet we saw a few weeks back, but its nice to be 100% sure.

thats good news for the folks who want the nav.
it also says this about the mazda6:
But even before these Mazda6 variations, MNAO promises a navigation system and two additional body styles – wagon and hatchback – to augment sedan numbers. Sedans began accumulating Sept. 30 at AutoAlliance International Inc., the Flat Rock, MI, assembly operation shared by MNAO and Ford Motor Co.
it had been posted here that the 6 wouldn't start production at flat rock until december. it looks like they are ready to go now.

Danger, have you had any experience with any of the NAV systems sold here in Canada?
The only experience that I personally have had was in California and I keep on hearing that the “maps” here are not as good as the maps in the States. My fear is that I will spend the big bucks to get one and then be very disappointed by the poor performance here. :(
Anyone here with Canadian NAV experience please comment.
Thanks in advance because I really do want to get a NAV system if they are any good here.

I have a cousin that is one of those voices you hear when you use OnStar (GM). He says the Canadian maps are a joke. I too have heard some stories, enough to convince me that if it is an expensive option, I won't get nav. The saved money could go into a lot of paper maps and a good set of tires. :D
Besides, think of how expensive it is to fix a nav system when it breaks. :(

Glad to see Mazda will offer the 3-D type display like the Infiniti G35. It makes a good system a lot better. I will order one.:D

/me hopes the nav system is optional so he can order an RX-8 without it.
