I tried this and it works but I lose some of the other JAVA functions like
the drop down and pop-up menus.

I don't think the owner of the site will be too thrilled with that. That is how they make money to support the site.

Just don't put your mouse over the word and nothing happens. No harm done.

Just that simple. Except when I'm scrolling down a page, my mouse goes over a intellitext word, and then the pop up comes up and stays up for a few seconds until im done scrolling. There is also the fact that they're green (don't know if they still are), and I use the blue background. So you can barely make out the intellitext words. It's obnoxious, there is plenty of advertising space they can use on the headers, and margins without having to resort to random advertising for companies nobody cares about.

I downloaded a script blocker for firefox. Then just told it to block intellitext scripts for this site.

Oh, I just use the default silver background and it is really easy to read everything. When you scroll over one of the words by mistake all you have to do is click anywhere else in the chat area where you are reading and it will get rid of the annoying box.

Actually, if you dig around a bit you'll find the owner of this site told you how to turn it off! Posted full instructions, he did.

No shit? Hmm seems a little counter-intuitive to me. Why does he have them at all then? He just simply needs to say that the website is capable of them in order to make money?

If you're using Firefox, you can do a lot better than that:

http://adblock.mozdev.org/

edit2: better direct link: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/10/

Then just add the intellitxt javascript to the list of blocked files. It will allow you to disable any ad, banner, javascript, flash, etc at will.

Edit: The instructions on that site aren't that great. So this is how it works.

1) First off, install adblock.
2) Restart firefox.
3) Load up any webpage. On the bottom right of your browser is an 'adblock' button. Click it.
4) You will now see a list of every element on the web page. It will show javascript files, images, etc. Pick what you want to block, and either add it directly, or change it to include wildcards.

for example, if you see ads.whatever.com/ads/js.php?id=13212312

You could block ads.*, ads.whatever.com/*, ads.whatever.com/ads* or any combo that you desire.

Because after 10 years of running these sites, I'm totally tired of hearing people whine about inconsiquential things ;) So let the whiners turn the Intellitext off, and the ones who don't mind helping out will click on them every once in awhile and help cover our bills.

Fine by me man. (I'm not the one who started the thread..)

I was just wondering why they would be there if you didn't care if people disabled them. They must not make you very much money, huh?

I'll leave mine on for ya! :)
