Painted the rear rotors, tell me what you think

Like many of you I got tired of the rusty rear rotors, so yesterday I took them off and painted them. Not really a bad job as it could be done in a couple of hours or less if you have everything you need. I did do one thing I haven't seen (maybe cause I just missed it) but I painted the rotors red. let me know what you think, not sure if I'll stick with it or not.

Can't really tell so up close. A far shot of the car might be better to see how it looks overall. I once considered painting mine black but then decided just to stay with the silver.

hmm.... i had a mind of that as well, but i wasn't sure if it'd affect braking in any way

looks different, but for some reason, it reminds me of old drum-brakes :P

but i feel the pictures don't do it justice

I'd take a shot from further away, but you really can't see them through the wheels. This does not affect braking in any way, the paint only goes to the edge of the pad, except for a bit of overspray that is gone after the first drive. I read a post on here a while back where a guy was going to get his painted and the shop was going to just spray the entire rotor and let the pads wear the paint off. I didn't like that idea at all so I just made a pattern to keep the overspray in check.

Yeah, I taped mine off when I painted them also. I'm sure the brakes will indeed take the paint off the contact areas, but I don't think getting paint in the brakes is a good thing.

Electrical tape works really well for masking them. It's flexible enough to follow around the curve in a single piece (though it's not wide enough, so you'll need about 4 pieces), doesn't bleed at all, and is sticky enough to keep paint from running under the tape.

It seems everyone has tried black, just figured I'd try to be different. Anything beats rusty red splatter.

What brand of Paint did you use ? How about a step by step? Did you sand first ? With what? Did you degrease ?

Where do you live in GA? I got mine painted 9 months after I bought the car for free under warranty at Rick Case Mazda in Duluth. And, since I have a BB, I got them painted black and they look gooooood.
